You know how I love you dearly and appreciate you! :)

I just don't agree with you..I think composition with this structure has never appeared anywhere close to ESC, especially not in Belarus or Moldovan NF.. :)

Oh it wasn't meant as a criticism. Eastern European ballads are in a league of their own. :D I think it will look epic live.

One comment from Turkey on yt:

"I swear to my life i wont watch eurovision if this song does not become first just like 2016 Sergey's song. This song is more than awesome... congratz Sergey, respect from Beylikdüzü/Turkey."

xlove xheart

One comment from The Netherlands on yt:

"Russia you have a very good song but it is a bit too heavy for eurovision in my opnion but totally deserves to go to the final
The Best of luck from the Netherlands."

Just spend some electric guitars on this song and it would‘ve been a perfect Sonata Arctica song xheart
Maybe that’s why I love it so much!

I totally get if people enjoy this song, but I think the Russia hype has been incredibly strong this season and the waves are still high. If Ireland had given this out it wouldn't have recieved much attention.

How funny that this was my first thought too. I can totally imagine it being a Sonata Arctica or even Kamelot song (except for heavy guitars to it) and some tremolo drums.

Plus, Sergey is well known star just like Eleni was last year. Stars always do well at Eurovision. ;)

I think this could win purely because of Eastern recognition of Sergey's superstar status and the fact that Russia will absorb all the votes that would have gone to Ukraine this year. But not on the quality of the song. It's very demure and held back, I don't think it'll do well outside of Russia's sphere of influence

Lol, I know only person from last picture. But almost always. I don't know why people give up on Russia, they have as good stagings as you, Swedes.
Others counted, don't do it well.

Bonnie Tyler and Kate Ryan?

Not sure why everyone in here is just talking about staging. Staging needs to be right to win, but you need a memorable song in it at least. I can't remember what this sounds like, I only remember feeling uninspired by it. Salvador just had a simple back-drop because he had the right song, it could never have been the other way around.

Aha, now I know. I didn't recognize it from pictures. I know them when they were younger, from music videos. I am not huge fan, though, I don't track them, so I didn't even know they were at Eurovision. I haven't wathed it every year, I skipped a few.

I can understand when people didn’t vote for Sergey 2016 because they found the song too generic.
But 2019 is something completely different. We‘ve never had that kind of song. Dark but contemporary, powerfully sung and, yes, well produced. This is obviously a big crime according to some people here. But after all it‘s still a COMPOSER‘S competition. And Scream is a piece of art. Put together very well, clean, almost sterile which makes it so powerful.

Something about this reminds me of Armenia 2014 actually :)

The statement "staging doesn't help if the song is not good enough" makes no sense in this case because Scream is still second with the bookies and obviously a favorite. We have seen good stagings give the predicted NQs a top 10 result so Russia winning with a good staging is not a reach by any means. ;)

Like Moldova 2018, for example. Most of the fans said it is weak, very dated and repetitive, it would be NQ or bordeline, and with really brilliant, genius staging it went straight ibto top 10. ;)
And there are many examples, this one I named is just the fresh one!
And last year's front-runner was 20th at the odds for months, and with staging and performance she lifted quite generic song to first spot in May.
