If this ESC is to be political again, then there is no doubt that he will flop with juries, but I am certain he will score a great deal of points in televote. After all, he is very handsome, a good singer, and if we add show on the stage (which we will certainly get), then he will place very high despite juries. .

Yes, he is handsome. But there are many handsome male solo singers this year. I mean you have Azerbaijan and Luca who are basically coming for the gay vote that Sergey usually gets.

And why should they may I ask? Because the Netherlands' entry sounds more honest and sincere than Russia's entry. The only common thing that they are both ballads sang by male singers, but only the Netherlands' entry is far superior. And at least Duncan didn't have to pretend he is a belter, where Sergey has to make sure he doesn't screw up his vocals. Don't get me wrong, Sergey is a decent vocalist, but he is not known as a vocal powerhouse. And from the studio cut of the song, he seems like he needs to ensure he hits the notes without struggling. And if he screws up, he essentially doom with the juries.
You do know that Sergey won the reality talent show where pop singers had to perform classical opera pieces, right?

I think Sergey is a great performer, however the song feels a bit outdated and plastic to me. Which is too bad, because Sergey has shown us he can do great things if he has te right song.

It's really different from his previous entry, not that it is a bad thing.
I kinda like it to be honest, especially the build-up before the "they scream" part. However it ends a little too abruptly.

So Sergey is serving a lot of cheese to Eurovision for a second time... Hm, the positive thing is that I actually like the song itself and the melody. But I really can't stand those horrible lyrics once again.... 6 points from me - that's quite much for a Lazarev song!

So what’s wrong with it? If he gets robbed again for being too perfect (I think that was one of the reasons juries let him down in 2016) he should quit Eurovision forever! Kristian Kostov had similar problems... people didn’t felt his song because he was allegedly too young to sing that beautifully and about a topic he obviously must not have experienced at his age. I think he was robbed too, people went for „raw“ music of Sobral and probably Portugal again this year, but the Netherlands' song - which I love very much don’t get me wrong - comes across as VERY staged, almost musical or Disney vibes. So if THIS piece of art is liked by the juries and Sergey‘s not then it‘s obvious he‘ll get robbed again.

If he flops with the juries again, it's because the song is dated. Stop bringing the politics thing again.

Wow … so good to be back in this thread. My ears are bleeding from Sweden's winner's song!

Every retro song is per definition DATED! If he flops with the juries again, it will be politics again. And we are not bringing politics in, it was EBU who dragged the politics in - but in the end, ESC itself was created because of the politics.

I love it, however I’m also slightly disappointed after all the hype and delay. Expected more raw feels and less of a calculated production. It’s still strong and dramatic and lends itself to some explosive, theatrical staging. Top 5 not in doubt, winning seems unlikely now though.

I watched the song once and was bored, waiting for it to kick into a tail spin of campery and disco beats but... No. The video is so cheesy too, please make it stop.

On a side note... Are we all convinced that Sergey is a closet-case?

Oh please, stop with this bullshit. It made perfect sense that the jury didn't like that dated, cheesy ESC-trash song in 2016, there was nothing political about that vote.

ok, listening to this. Imo Sergey shouldn't have come back with this song. It pales in comparison to you are the only one. The song screams Eastern Europe at Eurovision. Literally, it sounds like something from a Moldovan or Belarussian NF. I quite enjoy it all in all, but I don't think this winning eurovision. The whole comes off as quite cold and and try hard, (same as I feel about the dutch entry which is super manufactured and totally hollow despite people claiming deep emotion). That said I live for the dramatics in it and I expect huge drama in staging that will make it look epic. For now, Same as Sweden 6 points.

I like the orchestration & dramatic melodic vibe, similar to YATOO, reminds me of Power Metal like Nightwish/Within Temptation, but ultimately this is a much weaker song, staging isn't a miracle, and ultimately this is very inferior to even Believe let alone his previous song, Polina, etc. It's my 13th/41 or 14/42 with Maruv, if this won it would be a travesty to Netherlands, Italy, Cyprus etc, thankfully I can only see a couple of countries with diaspora giving this a televote 12, it will probably perform similarly with juries as YATOO.
