Kirkorov is the man...i love him:mrgreen:

When I see Kirkorov, I ask myself always: how can anyone say that gays are mistreated in Russia? :) Well, I know he is not gay, but he is a walking gay propaganda that was forbidden by Russian government. So, how can it be that he is allowed to be free as of yet?

Well deserved non winner. I really hope that these visual based performances will disappear soon from the contest.

Also Ukraine wouldn't be as effective last night as it was if it didn't have that amazing graphics... So, maybe it is not such a bad idea, cuz in this case, Australia would have won :)

Sorry, not sorry. Next time sent a monkey in a trampoline.
This was so overly done, so Sakis Rouvas. Thank god something genuine won.

TBH Had this won the contest yesterday, I wouldn't have been upset as well. The performance was well produced. Well done Sergey

By mistake I have given you a LIKE.... However, I must ask you whether you are talking about the Lithuanian guy on the trampoline? And the Greek entry from two or three years ago who also used a trampoline? Well, though I find all these accesories a bit awkward and unnecessary, still, I wouldn't call them monkies...

Everyone at the Eurovision party I was at yesterday were so relieved that Ukraine won in the end when it was down to just Ukraine and Russia...

This campy dated cliché Schlager-Dance-Pop effectively disguised with an over-the-top performance is not what's needed in 2016... while I like good uptempo songs and big shows, this is not it.... atleast had the song been something fresh, but now it just felt like the show was there to disguise the entry itself and not used as a compliment.

He had to win over Ukraine. The european public chose him, not Ukraine.

That's the jury system right there...

But people should not exaggerate though, it wasn't like he won the public vote with a huge margin or something (38pts is hardly a confident victory). If you look at 2015 it was then even more "unfair" considering Sweden was third in the public vote in 2015 (Ukraine was second in this year's public vote) and the margin between the public #1 and the actual winner in 2015 was 87pts! Just to put things into perspective...

Also if you adjust to "diaspora-inflation" then the margin might have been even lower this year... just saying... but that's just hypothetical of course.

Damn, guys, you are so unoriginal. These are exactly my words about Mans' entry last year. Shush.

Huh? I was never a big fan of Måns' entry but in his defense his song was for sure more up-to-date than the Russian one this year and back then he had a somewhat original show, this was like copying bits of that show.

Listen, A-lister, I really don't want to argue about this, cuz after all we both know that ESC entries are all copies of something. The problem of the ESC is that it is a small bubble that goes on for 2 weeks every year, and then the majority forgets about it. So, we always compare the new entries with the last year's entries, but in fact, we should also consider this whole event in its broader musical context of music production. In this case, everything in ESC is unoriginal and copy of something. That is my opinion, you may like it or not, agree with it or not, but please, let us not argue once more about this originality crap.

You cannot have the juries and then complain because you don't agree with them. You either have them or you don't. If you do you must accept whatever result comes out of them.
There's probably no perfect method, but i really think all in all they help towards better, fairer results.

I'm not arguing, I'm discussing, that's what we are here for no?

You think I don't know there's a music scene outside of ESC? And when I say "fresh and original" yes I refer to the ESC context, but also try to make a comparison with music trends in general and while it's true that ESC is more or less a bubble, you can still try to somewhat objectively put it into the bigger context.

For sure you will never hear the Russian entry on most radio stations in Europe, wheres the Swedish one was played in many markets... why? Because it (Måns' entry) simply was more "in touch" so to speak... and sure other factors too but there's a huge difference between a dated Schlager-Pop song and a regular Pop song with some country influences... none of them are original in that sense sure... but most stuff on the radio aren't like highly original either... that's not really what I meant... but there's a difference here, one can try to ignore or admit it.

Until 2014 all ESC winners were unanimous choice of both, juries and televote. However, by some strange miracle, the last two years, it is always juries' choice that takes trophy home, so, I really don't think that juries role is to help towards better, fairer results. The purpose of their reintroduction was to soften the effect of the neighborhood voting, not outvoting viewers. That is not something I have signed up when agreing with the reintroduction of juries.
