If Australia wouldn't been in this year's contest and Russia wouldn't have invaded Crimea, Russia would have won.

This reasoning is utterly pointless.

Too bad Nikolay isn't around anymore for me to make fun of him now. ;)
I didn't come here to laugh at the supporters of Russia in general but I would have liked to laugh at him personally.

In retrospect, there was a lot of unnecessary drama but it was a close race and we all love some drama on the forum, don't we?

The better song has won and no matter if someone likes Sergey's song or Jamalas's song or not, I think we should all appreciate that you cannot win Eurovision by putting all effects you can think of into a three minute video clip. We should also appreciate that the bookies aren't always right.

The German commentator pointed out the mediocre quality of the song and the unoriginal OTT staging. He didn't mention that Russia was a favorite if I'm not mistaken.
Russia then won the German televote.:lol:

I'm happy that I was right about the juries doing their job and it seems not all juries are like that "professional jury" on Periscope. So there are many things to be happy about.

I also hope that Russia won't be a favorite next year, so we can be spared such a drama in 2017. We've already had that twice in a row. I don't want Eurovision to be a fight between good and evil every year although I have to say it feels really good when the righteous triumph in such a fight.

I wonder what Nyusha is thinking at the moment xthink

It probably took some convincing just to get her to read the 12 points. Not sure she's thinking of possible ESC participation anytime soon after tonight

Russia would love to win it on Ukraine turf. I expect we'll see a similar standard to what we have in the last few years. They're determined to get the ESC back in Russia and to become an ESC force. They decided this year the best formula this year was to throw all the money they had it and go effects crazy; inspired by Mans. Turns out something much more basic, beautiful and heartfelt won.

Be interesting to see what they go for next year.

Someone needs to make a GIF of his expressions as he tries to figure out if he won... (not the whole screen, only his part)

It's hilarious to see the supporters of Sergey proclaim that he lost for political reasons. The juries showed more support for Polina last year, remember? So politically things were better back then?

The juries didn't vote for Sergey because the song is outdated and bad and the OTT staging didn't fool them. They probably ranked it even lower because of the tacky and unoriginal staging. There are various odd jury results but most of them made the right choice regarding Russia.
The Armenian jury, for example, gave 2 points to Russia. The juries from Belarus and Azerbaijan gave 12 points to Russia. Who is more objective here? Probably nobody on the Armenian jury has a Russian husband...

The Greek and Cypriot juries gave 12 points to Russia because of a certain Greek composer. They didn't vote for the best song. They voted for a fellow Greek and Belarus voted for its neighbor.

We know now which juries just vote for certain countries and people and which dare to give 0 points to their neighbors if that's the fair vote.

I was very negative about the juries after the Periscope video and there are still many problems but things are not as bad as feared. We need further improvement of that system but the juries are clearly needed.

Their efforts always seem so fake and plastic to me.
Last year a phony peace song, this year total plastic. In 2013 another phony peace song and 2014 was plastic too. 2012 was funny but a joke entry would be stopped by the juries. 2011 was a disaster. Their only winner is the worst winner in the history of the contest. Russia is always like that.

Maybe they will try a ballad again next year. A peace song in Ukraine seems plausible.

Last year Polina was SECOND in the jury voting cuz no-one expected her to be high in the televoting. So, juries had no upper command to downvote her. Last year, it was Italy who got screwed over by juries in favor of Sweden. This year, it was Sergey who had to put on the Italian shoes. So, basically, I don't see point in your saying that juries voted "fairly" :)

Ukraine was not a good song. It was a good act and people voted for her political, teatrrical performance. Saying that this was an artistic overachievement is just ridiculous. And don't forget that basically every country used some sort of special/led effects this year, so I really don't get this reproach that Sergey was unoriginal... For me this was all politics.

And dont forget: Ukraine was threatening to withdraw if Sergey wins. This is really not a nice thing to say nor a way to influence public opinion.

You know, what I am learning these two years is that I should listen to the music and enjoy this part of the show, yet it is better to turn of the TV once voting starts, cuz this is total crap. It is always politics and juries that now somehow manage to get to have their last, although the idea of reintroducing juries was to lessen the effect of neighbourhood voting. Well, right now, juries are totally swaying the results. For me, this is total nonsense.

To sum up: last year for me the winner was Italy, and this year it is Russia. Whatever you say guys, juries can kiss my ... you know what

I feel really sorry for Sergey and especially for Kirkorov (see him in 2 years again) but they must have prepared better song. Though televoting once again proves that the show matters more than song.

Like Jamala didn't have any show.

Aaand juries votes prove that politics also play a very important role.
