Re: RUSSIA 2014

Are we having NF this year in Russia? It's a turn for NF, right? 2010-NF, 2011-internal choice, 2012-NF, 2013 internal. It is because of diffrent channels am I correct? I'm not sure if I have it right with Russian selections.

Anyway I watched 2012 NF and there were few interesting ( in different ways  ) entries. I remember of course Dima&Julia (I even liked them, but they weren't my fave), Aida (God, what a voice) and Timati and two sisters screaming in French "Marionette" ( that was a blast :D ).
Naturally the winners, Buranovskie Babushki xheart

Yes, it's correct.

Re: RUSSIA 2014

Welcome! I hope too... Russia always was great musical country, but very underestimated.

Unfortunately not showing it to Europe in ESC... whatever you do Russia do never send such an imported cheese crap like in 2013. It's such a shame that a country as huge as Russia with a beautiful language, rich culture and a wide range of music to have to rely on such tactics. I could understand if a tiny country with not much to choose from would maybe take that step, but Russia doing it is beyond me.

Agreed.

Also, I know fans are usually divided on them, but I'll take Russian entries from 2009, 2010 and 2012 over that cheese any day.

Re: RUSSIA 2014

Their doing it because they want to win again, its that simple. The jury like rate that crap so that's what their going to do. This year they got their best jury score ever and it was only 10th. Its an uphill battle for Russia to do well with the jury to start with but if they ever want to win again their certainly not going to send stuff similar to 2009-10. 2012 only did decent because the jury felt they needed to jump the bandwagon otherwise they would have tanked it like 2011. That's just an unfortunate fact xshrug

2010 was so so, but 2009 and 2012 OF COURSE... without any single doubt. 2009 is my favorite Russian entry to date even... and 2012 is just über catchy and charming.

2013 has absolute nothing to do with Russia, it's just a parody of what people think of cheese in ESC... a complete relic from God knows when.

Just another proof why those grandmas in the juries must be kicked OUT before ESC is totally ruined! Countries simply chose entries to cater to their lame taste instead of taking risks or sending entries that cater to the public and actually represent their own music scenes... it's a shame what's happened to ESC, but people shouldn't be surprised considered how generic, predictable and dated ESC was in the "golden years of juries".

Re: RUSSIA 2014

I LOVED Peter Nalitch :D It was theatrical, moody and melodramatic in a funny way. Unfortunately I really don't think anyone outside Eastern Europe understood it though.

"Here and I...OHHHH...Lost and Forgotten" xrofl

"What are you doing man?.... I'm looking at a photo, what should I do with it?...Put it in the fire man" xrofl2

The wind machine and snow at the climax was fantastic! xrofl3

This. I think people took it literally/seriously, whereas it was meant to be taken with a wink. Very funny entry.

Re: RUSSIA 2014

:eek::mad:

2010 was very "Russian", despite it being in English. It's pretty amazing too.

Oh gosh, I totally mixed up 2011 and 2010

Yeah, 2010 was pretty interesting... and 2011 could have been great aswell if the song would have been in the same style as the intro ;)

Firsly, Eurovision is not an indicator of the development of music, but only a stupid contest, which look only because it is coming in late on Saturday night.
Secondly, Swedish artists sing a lot in Swedish?
Thirdly, I proud of Dina and she has an incredible voice! Not her problem that her wrote this song...
For example great Nathional Russian song and sings Dina

Firstly, if you think Eurovision is only a "stupid contest", why are you spending time on a Eurovision fan-forum then? xshrug
I've never said that ESC is an indicator of development of music, ESC is whatever you make it to be. It could be a driving force in European music, but there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration first.

Secondly, I'd love if Swedish artists would sing songs in Swedish in Melodifestivalen and Eurovision, but this thread is not about Sweden right so I don't get your point? Atleast Sweden send products made by Swedish talents which atleast aren't that far away from the sounds of the actual Swedish music scene (dated perhaps, but still). Also, Eurovision is about entries representing their countries, so if we're on the language issue then yeah it's more logical if Swedish acts sing in English because English is very common on the Swedish music scene and has been dominating for years, wheres in Russia most acts are singing in Russian. Still though, I'd prefer if as many countries as possible would stick to sending native-language entries to ESC (that includes Sweden), but my issue with the Russian 2013 is not the language mostly but the song itself.

Thirdly, I never said anything about her talents as a vocalist. I personally find her vocals good but generic, but that's a matter of taste. But in the end of the day it's about the songs, Eurovision is a song contest, not a singing talent show a la The Voice. Maybe people are satisfied with mediocre or bad songs as long as the singers are conventionally good vocalists, well I'm not.

I don't really understand your tone, I praised Russia for its language, culture and rich music scene, yet you made it look as if I criticized Russia or in this case Dina. To me that makes no sense. Sure I criticize the choice of this song, but that's because I know that there's potential for something far better and more interesting and hopefully in 2014 we'll get something better.

1/ Ok. Why I talk on this forum? Because this forum have FSC and for me intresting listening music in the rest of the world and only/
I stayed on it because once I liked the song Chris Medina and I decided to try to show World Russian music from the best side. Driving force? Ahah maybe 20-30 years ago maybe nut now this contest don't have influence in the musical world. Mostly watched by fans competitions...in some ways I'm the same, but I got tired of the low level of music and cynicism of what is happening.

2.Really?)) When Sweden last time she sang in their native language at the Eurovision m?)))))))))
So do not about the language) Just makes me so mad that when Sweden sends a song without meaning (for example 2013) is OK, when Russia sends a song in English ( with the best voice in this contest) is already a catastropha.

3 Ok)

So, Eurovision is indicator not the music, but our generation. Now the majority of young people are not interested in a sense, the beauty of the voice and so on. One can talk about this. The most horrible thing and taste in music few people are interested in the current generation has no values, that's awful. And Eurovision as it passes now also increasingly losing interest for people who are trying to think with music.

@ LokoFan444

I'm not really sure if you understood my response tbh, but I'm not here because I want to argue with anyone, especially if things get lost in translation.

I still don't see what Sweden got to do with the subject? I don't dislike all entries Russia sent in English if that's what you think? I particularly dislike the 2013 entry though, I don't think I would like it more in Russian (maybe a bit, but not by much), the language is not the main issue (although the cringe lyrics are obviously more obvious when understanding the words).

Look, there's no need in convincing anyone because it's just different opinions that's all. I just wanted to assure you that my critics is only directed at the music and choice of entry in 2013, absolutely nothing against you or Russia for that sake ;)
