According to Andy from esckaz and other parts of the net the The Alexandrovci (Red Army Choir) will enter a song in the national selection performed by their soloist Boris Dyakov. He can apparently sing different styles like tango, opera, military and folk so he seems pretty diverse.

And a pop-like performance in the first 2:50. Sounds pretty exciting if its true I except something big.

I want to see back Alsou or Serebro on the stage for Russia in 2014. Especially Alsou , she was perfect in Stockholm

Channel Russia announced that that year they would hold Selection which is named Who? :D
It will be a competition for 2 months. The winner will be chosen by televoting. The date of the final is 31 of December 2013 ​

December 31? This must be the earliest I've ever seen them pick. Normally when its Channel Russia's turn they wait what feels like forever and throw a NF together out of nowhere. If we didn't already know they wanted to win the last 2 years with a 2 month search we certainly know that now!

Oh no, Russia is going from dated cheese ballad to a karaoke talent show type of selection? How far will they degrade themselves?

According to the article on esctoday:

The 2014 Russian Eurovision national selection will consist of 2 phases. The first phase will run from September- October where a special jury will shortlist all the submitted applications to 25.

Russia 1 will then announce the names of the 25 lucky acts that will compete in the grand final on their official website. The Russian audience along with a special jury will be in charge of the deliberation of the 2014 Russian Eurovision representative and act on December 31st.

The full results of the jury and public voting will be released after the show both on TV and on the broadcaster's official website.


From the article it looks like the "special jury" alone will choose the 25 entries and then the final on December 31 will be 50/50 televoting and jury. It doesn't say anything about the public getting to help choose who the 25 finalists are and it probably won't even be done publically. Doesn't sound any different from what they have done before except this time we know a submission deadline. In the past it always appeared like they made a last minute NF out of nowhere and people were always surprised when it came up.

Only difference from past selections I can see is we might get to hear the finalist earlier rather then on the day of the final like before. Perhaps the artists will get a chance to promote their entries beforehand.

Well it's better that the Russians can choose their entry instead of the government itself, i mean, didn't Buranovskiye Babushki won from the NF too?

I bet Dima Bilan will come again to the NF :lol:

Well, depends really... it sounds as if it's gonna be similar to the Ukrainian NS, which is ok. But if they'll do a talent type of selection like Idol/X-Factor/The Voice then it's bad imo. I want entries, not just no-names desperate for fame singing karaoke.

Hopefully no Dima though!!! :lol:

Oops :oops:, sorry, i thought they would make an NF for artists next year, i didn't know that this is an Idol-type NF :mrgreen:

Well if this is really an idol type NF, i think the germans already did that in 2010 and 2012, CMIIW :D
