Participarea României la Eurovision 2024, sub semnul întrebării, cu o săptămână înainte de închiderea înscrierilor. TVR: „Deocamdată, nu a fost luată o decizie”
Surse TVR au declarat pentru Libertatea că România nu se va înscrie pentru că nu sunt bani. Oficialii postului public spun doar că „subiectul nu a fost discutat la nivelul managementului SRTv”. Termenul limită pentru înscriere e 15 septembrie.

Romania Eurovision (FB) said that the website claiming that Romania would be withdrawing isn't really reliable when it comes to Romania's broadcaster.
They even posted a link to an article stating that Romania have already started to work on their Eurovision participation.

Yeah. Romania Eurovision Community (FB) pointed out that they've been working on the ESC 2024 page (and that it would be strange to update that page if they intend to withdraw).
That's what they wrote when they presented that link:
Unfortunately, the libertatea.ro article is biased against the public broadcaster and should be fact checked before used as a statement.
The actions of TVR in recent weeks are completely different to what the article states. Here is an example - they are already working on the Eurovision site for 2024:

It's sad to see how much Romania has fallen in Eurovision. The country with a 100% record, a powerhouse with a string of great entries recieving good results. All of that in ruin and now it's lucky if you guys make the final while serving endless mediocrity (WRS the exception). It wont feel quite the same without Romania there, but a withdrawal and coming back in the future with a clean slate and fresh perspective will help some hopefully. Romania has such a great music industry and has all the means to do exceptionally well like Ukraine year in year out, they just need to tap into it. I don't think any broadcaster other than TVR can do Eurovision, but hopefully with TVR out it gives others the opportunity to step in and do something.

We all thought this list of participating countries "revelation" lasted this long because of Australia, but it seems not. And, funnier: it's NOT finished yet (And here's a link)

They kept reporting on ESC 2024 so it was weird considering the withdrawal news. Eh, we shall see.

In the end, it's sad to see Romania becoming the little sister of Moldova in terms of Eurovision (and good musical taste), such a dismay
I’d have more sympathy if they sent decent entries that fail to qualify but if you send trash expect trash results right??

We will have to wait until early 2024 for Romania to make a decision regarding participation in ESC 2024. It depends on whether or not the Romanian government provides the funds that TVR needs to participate.
