Can't agree there. I'd put it bottom 3 of all time for Romanian entries. Whether It's representative or not, I just want to hear something I like, and that was offensive to my ears. Oh well. 2010 was probably their best entry, although I haven't heard a Romanian entry I really love. Kind of like Lithuania, except not as bad.

Well, each to their own I liked Mandinga, although the live execution of it wasn't that good :/ But it was catchy, summery and contemporary and yes, representative of how contemporary Romanian music actually sounds.

Mandinga deserved so much better, it was the awful juries that underrated it... imo it's the best Romanian entry to date and the entry most representative of the current Romanian music and the style that brought them international fame.

I don't think it's their best song. I far prefer 2010 and 2005.
The performance was a bit weak, I can see why the juries didn't rank them that high. I'd actually put them close to the 20th of the juries than the 7th of the televoting , I think.

Each to their own... well duh, the juries think this is American Idol, they couldn't be bothered 'bout the songs, they only care about vocals more or less (and if it's the "right" country and safe enough)

2010 was alright, 2005 was a bit screamy, annoying and amateur... that one has aged badly imo.

It's so cheesy! I really struggle to understand why people like it so much or how it came 3rd, but I guess people have different opinions

Juries are obsessed with cheese, no surprise there but what is beyond me is why it scored so high with regular viewers as well. Diaspora obviously had an impact (as always with Romanian entries :? ) but as you say at the end of the day, music tastes are subjective. Anyhow I probably shall never discover the appeal. Sounds like an awful Rock bottom rip-off to me.

This time Electroc Fence must win!

I went through 10 pages of this thread and I was on the edge of despair because I heard all about Inna and Ovi and Paula and Mandinga but NOTHING about Electric Fence! Seriously, second in the NF in the last two years, surely 2014 is their year! They're so energetic and full of vibrance, how can they not do only brilliant for Romania?!

To be fair the televoters like the cheese equally. "Playing with fire" received 155 from the televoters vs 167 from the juries.

Personally I don't get the love for that song either. I don't hate it but there must be better songs out there for Paula Seling who IMO is a superb singer.

Same here. in 2010 I thought Romania's "Playing With Fire" was better than Germany's "Satellite". Romania "Playing With Fire" or Denmark "In A Moment Like This" should have won that year.

Anyway, what's the likelihood of Romania being in ESC 2014? They seem to be taking their time deciding whether or not to enter.

I am 100% sure that we will be in Eurovision 2014. Eurovision Song Contest is a really popular tv-show here and also in media. Maybe TVR will choose internal after several years of NFs and they still need to get that particular artist. Last year there were rumours that TVR invited Inna to compete in Malmo but she refused. There's one thing I am sure about: we will not send pop-opera again. Not in this century at least 2

Inna is already flopping abroad so she may be entering now or in some years !

BTW I remeber Ovi said he was working on a Eurovision song this summer, so... Let's pray for a new "Playing with fire". Paula Seling is welcome when she wants ! Romania doesn't lack of great singers !

Ewwwww how on the Earth could somebody wish for smth like "Playing with fire" it's totaly beyond me! That horrible cliche entry is total rubbish! :/ Doesn't have any single value..reminds me of some homemade rubbish from Swiss onlime NF..gosh..

I didn't knew that TVR's financial situation was that bad!
