In a nutshell, I bet he regrets that Eurovision has become an entertainment show instead of remaining a music festival a la San Remo. Personally, I wouldn't blame him for that Even if the staging is important these days, the song should remain key. And I'd say: all the better if he doesn't like the spread of Scandipop going on, at least Portugal won't send what everyone else sends at the moment.
With such a state of mind, I think it bodes well for the Portuguese NF: most songs will probably be ranked according to their actual musical merit, and not how busy the stage is. They'll just have to be careful once in Kyiv not to be too lazy visually when working on the final staging.
Portugal seems to be stepping it up! Finally!
I SO much would welcome a portuguese win! Or a top 5. Or at least a top 10.....
An official annoucement is yet to be made, but I love how we are low-key confirmed for Eurovision 2018. At one point during the press conference, RTP's subdirector stated that "there is more next year". Just like that. Beautiful.
It may be annoying, and yeah we will go insane in the next few days wondering about the songs. However, that is the way to go this time around. The deadline to deliver the final versions was January 31. So, this is all very recent. For once, I am happy folks at RTP are taking their time, doing it properly, not rushing things.
Pedro Gonçalves mentioned Robyn when talking about "Don't Walk Away". He also stated that his performance has a visual aspect. I really like the way he talks about his song. David Gomes said "My Paradise" is fun, and I like how ambitious he sounds, saying we should try English if we think about winning. I approve this message.
I adore the design/visual identity of Festival da Canção 2017 – among the very best this year. It is glamorous. The Greek-esque letters are great, and so is the colour scheme.
