This is so strangelly wonderful and wonderfully strange. I'm just obsessed. And it's just incredible how he was able to pull that of without earing the music... and still recovering from a major surgery. He actually said the nurses didn't believe he'd be able to stand on stage and could pass out at any moment. Glad everything went ok.

As for his outfit (i see many people are commenting on it), he just doesn't give a damn and i love him for it ahaha. I remember back in Idols 2009 the female judge telling him that if he was to go through to the live shows he had to dress better. Salvador was like: "You don't like my outfit? What are you on about?" Aw, i just love him.

Actually, when I only listen to the studio version, I can somehow see what people see in this song and I feel my attitude changing towards it.... Give it a few more listenings and I might start to like it. But his acting still puts me off totally!

I really love this song
This is what i mean being authentic and original
You can feel the portuguese soul in it.
No screaming, no high notes, no lap-dance, no english
Only ability to share emotions with music and verses
I don' understand a word ( or maybe some ) but I feel it completly .
This is style, this is personality, this is showing-who-i-am and not who-i-would-like-to-be-but-i-can't
Bravo Portugal

If Eurovision had existed in the 40s, this is what it would have sounded like! Very retro and true to the style obviously, though that doesn't necessarily make it great, and as someone who regularly listens to and even plays this kind of music myself, the chords and melody are a bit awkward. but maybe it will grow on me. His performance style is peculiar to say the least, both in voice and appearance, even for the genre.

Really curious how they are going to stage this? Will he dress up or act more normally, or keep dressing like a beggar and do the same thing on stage?

Interesting you refer to Chet Baker RainyWoods Salvador has mentioned many times in several interviews that he is obsessed with Chet Baker and that he is his biggest inspiration.

That comes as no surprise and is wonderful to hear. The jazz world was at a time (and still probably is to an extent) an extremely macho business, with men expected to portray themselves in a very specific way. I remember reading of the flak Chet Baker got from his peers when he was alive for "singing like a girl". I hadn't heard another male jazz vocalist as sensitive and able to caress a song in the same way Chet could until Salvador. The only other male I can think of so sensitive is the late Little Jimmy Scott, who was born with Kallmann syndrome, which prevented him from reaching puberty, thus giving him a very high and feminine voice which he used in the most beautiful way.

Really, really lovely. As per usual, Portugal brings an entry packed with charm and of course their gorgeous native language. Took me a while to warm up to, and there were others in the NF I preferred, but I really do like this and feel as though it's on course to do well.

*swoons* A different arrangement of the song. Just as beautiful without the lush strings. The percussion gives it a very different, purer jazz feel. I'm still waiting for someone to wake me up from this dream. A song like this is actually going to Eurovision!? My heart continues to flutter after one hundred plays. I need to savour every moment of the next couple of months as something like this won't come again anytime soon. "Amar pelos dois" is potentially my new all time favourite Eurovision song.
