This isn't classy or vintage it's just waaaay to old-fashioned!! It doesn't do anything for me, boring melody, boring performance.. Would have done well in 1960 but certainly not in 2017!

I have read many times this "old fashion" stuff as if it were something negative. Stop this fascism. It's like all songs must sound trendy just because it's 2017 and there are no place for music genres which don't fulfil the expectations of the mainstream media. Diversity is not only having outlandish entries potentially good for social media virals, luckily in Eurovision there is still a room for every kind of music and those who really appreciate music itself irrespective of the fashion trends, countries, languages, etc. are grateful for such choices that made us believe that the contest still resist the idea of being a one-model package for everyone.

Great choice from Portugal. The song and performance has such a charm and beauty that you can't help but like it, I think Salvador has a legit chance of getting Portugal's best ever result in Eurovision. xcheer

The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
Timeless classics do not belong in specific time/era, these classics will stick with us forever.

Sobral reminds me somehow of Gualazzi. He has the same kind of goofy gentleness.
I'd say that at least half of the song's charm is because of his rendition.

Very surprised with the positive reactions to this song. I found it very boring. Not better than Italy 2011.
It will only qualify if the juries are very kind.

Could someone tell me if Salvador will sing in Portuguese in Kyiv?

I haven't listened to the song, but I'm genuinely glad it's a jazz song as I'm a huge fan of that music genre. xheart

It's a charming interview to me. I like the ideas of Luisa about music. Gosh. I'm so fangirling about them

:12: for this.

Throuhout wonderful, charming and calming. I imagine it's a clear summer night and I sit somewhere uptown on a hill with a person I love , looking down at the big city lights below us while listening to this piece of music.

I really really like this.
I already imagine myself listening to this song with a glass of wine on a late afternoon on the beach, watching the sun go down and feeling the impending end of the summer.
Yes, here what this song makes me feel... a sort of imminent nostalgia of a thing that has not even finished yet but that you know it eventually will.
(I'll wait a week before reading the translation of the lyrics just to mantain my imminent nostagia idea ehehe).

This will remain, it's not dated, it's classic.

Not a fan of the jacket though. :p

Beautiful words Schlagermanxheart I love listening to all of Melody Gardot's music. I even have a rare cd she recorded as therapy after recovering from her life changing accident. "Baby I'm A Fool" is beautiful but I tend to lean towards her very melancholic numbers like "One And Only Thrill" and "If Ever I Recall Your Face". The moments you describe when you listen to jazz are the moments I cherish for listening to jazz, those rainy afternoons and such. A lot of people don't realize how beautiful the genre can be and stay away, thinking it's all trumpets and scatty, all over the place music, but that's just one side of the genre.

Billie Holiday is probably my all time favourite jazz singer. I remember as a child spending my entire birthday money on a 10 disc 200+ song Billie Holiday Verve years boxset which was kind of crazy:p I was so into jazz from maybe 13-20 and then moved onto rock and folk, but whenever I hear a beautiful jazz song my heart aches again, like it did all those years ago.

I'm still in shock a song like this is going to Eurovision. We have the juries to thank but the public still placed Salvador 2nd and the general fan reaction is beyond what I could have expected. A strange thing to note is that I put this song up there with "Suus" and "Maybe", both songs themselves with strong jazz roots in one way or another. "Suus" in essence being an experimental jazz piece, and "Maybe" performed with Valentina's unshakably strong jazz sensibilities.

Yeah it is wonderful, and so brave for a country to go for something like this in Eurovision. Whatever happens in Kyiv, I am glad that we got to see it perform there. :D
I don't know if you have heard anything from an old swedish jazz star, Monica Zetterlund (who also got sent to ESC in 1963, but came last with 0p). She was the first to sing jazz in Swedish in the late 50s and became a huge star, not only here but also abroad.

Some of her most known songs:

Step aside the Wainwright's. I think I have a new all time favourite musical family. Gosh, they are just so charming. I can't stop watching back their reprise performance of the song where Salvador invites his sister on stage to perform together the song she wrote for him. It's just so beautiful and spontaneous. Luísa's voice is just as beautiful as his *cough Gianluca* look, no gender bias.

It's great news they're adamant about keeping it in Portuguese but, BUT BUT BUT I pray they write an English version just for the fans to hear. I'm a selfish person that would like to be able to sing this song. At the moment i'm just mumbling out some incoherent mess to myself. For ESC 100% keep it in Portuguese, no question about it. A beautiful language, and the song was able to touch my heart deep without understanding a single word. The full power of music on display right there. I'm fangirling over them both tooxheat Salvador going "That's crazy maaaan" and using the word "dude". He's so hip!

From what they said there is absolutely no way they will add even a word in English for Eurovision. They might make a English version for promo purposes, but I don't think it's very likely either.

That was like an answer to Yodel it...This may be a generally weak Eurovision year, but we have 2 songs (this and Italy), reaching heights we haven't seen in years. 12.
