Regardless of what I think of the song, but as far as I understand it, it was the JURY who made the win possible by putting the PUBLICS favorite on the fifth place. Now personally I don't care about this, but I'm surprised that all the ones who had so much to say about the "undemocratic juries", who "ignored the peoples decision", who are a sign of a system that unfairly "overrules the wish of many by the personal taste of few", that all of them are so silent now.... No accusing of unfairness, of rigged election process... nothing.
So I ask myself....
Is the jury only "unfair", "undemocratic", etc... when they have a different opinion or taste than some posters here?
Is a decision only "rigged", "corrupt" or "manipulated", when the outcome is not as one wanted it to be?
Should juries only be abolished from the system when they do not decide according to ones personal views?

And let me just stress that I DO NOT THINK, that Salvador won in an unfair or undeserved way.

So, why does somebody else should find something rigged or unfair in the Portuguese process? Is there any reason for that?

Unlike the Spanish NF, to mention just an example, there are not signs of fraud afaik.

But now that you mention this, I'd personally prefered another score system, giving proportional points to the televoting, keeping the scores of the jury. I don't know if the % of televoting have been revealed but if it would have changed the outcome I will be the first to point out that it us unfair, even though I love the winning song.

Well let's put Spain apart from this for a moment, because there clearly was this issue with Manel being friends with a member of the jury.

But if you think of Slovenia this year or so many other occasions in past national finals - the mere fact that the jury did overrule the publics vote was the reason for accusations as mentioned above (from - "unfair" in the mildest way to "rigged" in the most extreme). Here with Portugal - the fact that the juries saved Salvador is not even discussed. I just wanted to point out that difference in the perception of the fans community (and I do not mean this term in a negative way like some do).

Well.. I did change my mind regarding this entry. Imo, this is the best entry that Portugal has ever sent to the ESC, and it doesn't matter whether it'll end up on the bottom 2 of their SF or whatever. Salvador should be truly proud of himself, as he's competing with the most memorable and emotional song in this contest along with "1944" last year.

You made me cry, and I have to congratulate you for what happened. :12: bright points from France and my tears given with it. xheart

also, even if there were riggage, it would be smart riggage, since viva la diva had no chance of impressing a single european soul in the entire history of the continent. much like the case with spain and manel, which has stayed waaaaay too damn long at the indignation station.

I really like Portugal at ESC, maybe because they normally do bad or their songs are always so different. But also, I am glad they moved little bit closer to 2017 with this year's selection.

Some Portuguese entries are at the top of my list. I loved Rita in 2003 - it's such a beautiful entry. I have high expectations this year, fingers crossed.

Today in the morning I took my tablet and clicked the video. First thought, oh, this is really boring. And then I had my eyes full of tears...

Interesting you refer to Chet Baker RainyWoods Salvador has mentioned many times in several interviews that he is obsessed with Chet Baker and that he is his biggest inspiration.

I'm not a fan of jazzy melodies, so this isn't exactly my cup of tea. However, I do like the orchestration, it feels very old Eurovision, which I appreciate very much. #bringbacktheorchestra

I don't hate it, it certainly has a pleasant feeling about it. I just don't like the melody/chord progression, but since that is everything to me in terms of how I feel about a song, this will never be a song that I will love. It might grow on me though, we'll see.

Also, his facial expressions bother the hell out of me (though this doesn't impact how I feel about the entry).
