So after the backlash RTP reverted their decision and they will now broadcast the entire 2016 Eurovision Song Contest!
They managed to negotiate a new broadcasting fee with the EBU.

Why are you saying this being a portuguese (are you?) and obviously an ESC fan (or you wouldn't be on this forum). Seems llogical to me to whiswishh your own counry should not participate in a competition you yourself are fond of...

Yes I am a music fan and also portuguese, but I really don´t like to see my country as the "poor" one of ESC...we are one of those that are in ESC since the beginning and also the only one of that group that never win....not because of poor songs of obviously for political reasons also also that crap diaspora....Portugal is the only country in europe with just one neighbor....that is one of the reasons....but many other exist unfortunately...so my view is, if we can win why are we spend money in this? look the exemples of Monaco, Luxembourg etc....! we can spend more money with this and stay forever the poor Portugal that never won!!

Well, it's true, that Portugal has just one neighbour, but so has Israel and it is are very successful country. It's also true that there were underrated portuguese songs in the ESC history, but I cannot see any political reason for not voting for Portugal...
Anyway I hope your wish does not come true because I really want Portugal to keep participating and eventually winning.

Portugal really is one of the weakest ESC-countries, songwise. There's no need to bring in political reasons, it's just that this country doesn't know how to play the game.

Because Portugal is the most unsuccessful ESC-country and it's too jealous to take part in contests organized by Sweden which conversely is the most successful ESC-country

The most successful country in ESC's history is Ireland/United Kingdom, Sweden still to have work on that

It's a funny coincidence, but we would tell the same about Poland till this year. Fortunately, it changed and I think Portugal will participate in next contest hosted by Sweden too

it seams you are a little frustrate with something....I am not antisemitic and neighter my words had that ideia....I just said that diaspora (any type of diaspora: political, religion, sexual orientation etc etc ) is the most strong reason for winning the ESC...open your eyes....is so easy to read the results of this contest for many years!!
