My favourites are Rui and Zana, especially the first. I think 'Ao Teu Encontro' is a simple ballad, but beautiful at the same time. In my opinion, he magnifies the song live... Why didn't Ivo qualify? :?

Ufff I have been listening as asas da sorte all day, I think Portugal could pass to final with this song easily. xheart

Pimba is not only about naughty, sexual related, double meaning lyrics. It's also, and firstly, about a characterisc sonority, typical instrumentation, singers' general tacky appearance and cracky voices, and poor usage of the Portuguese language. Even pimba has several shades and varieties and of course this is pimba all the way.

Again, IMO there's a clear confusion between popular songs (schlager) and Pimba, but I won't repeat myself. I rest my case. :D ;)

No style of music is defined merely by the lyrics they use, its the whole of its constituents that makes it. One can tell pimba even if there is no words in it. But I know many people only recognize pimba by the naughty side of it xshrug

Actually you might be right. I'm not an expert on the subject. And it's obviously very hard to agree on what it is exactly. However Pimba says a lot. And it started once it was associated to Emanuel's song. :D I still think people confuse pimba with schlager, but there is not a definition that shows where one ends and another one starts. There is however the idea of schlager (música popular) in which you can include these songs too. xthink So you make a point there.

I think, as things stand right now, Catarina Pereira and Zana are the only ones that are able to qualify to the Final in May, but I prefer Catarina. Either way, both of them can qualify, and if they get a revamp, maybe even do decent in the Final.
I never though I'd say this, but maybe Suzy with a revamp could do a bit better as well. But as it stands right now it's too repetitive, it would be vying for a last place in the SF!

Whichever song gets chosen (hopefully "Mea culpa", but "Nas asas da sorte" isn't that bad either), I hope it will get a revamp for the ESC!

Totally agree with you! "Mea Culpa" is an average song, but may work in Denmark if it is revamped! Change the beat, because right now it is "Canta Por Mim" with different lyrics. I like it though.
But Zana is great too. Her perfomance must improve and she should sing it in English. I can see an ESC Winner in Zana and "Nas asas da sorte", just my feeling. I know it won't, but personally this song rocks!
BUUUUUUUUUUUT, between Catarina and Zana, Catarina for sure!

NO ENGLISH VERSION! The lyrics are awful  I'd only support Mea Culpa if it was in English, otherwise I'll have Zana or Suzy please.

I love it xheart ENGLISH VERSION! :)

The lyrics are decent actually! I prefer the Portuguese version, but in case it wins, it wouldn't be disgraceful to have it in English. But I'd rather mantain the Portuguese though.

Re: PORTUGAL 2014

Have you noticed Emanuel's poker face at the end of Catarina's performance? He is probably thinking "Damn, this chick already won".

Carlos Costa heavily criticized "Mea Culpa" performance. He surely finds his messy attempt ("Queres Que Eu Dance") more worthy. Ha ha ha! #Jealousy
