Re: PORTUGAL 2014

I don't know if guaranteed points from France and Spain as well as a few loose ones is enough to overcome the heaviness of the x-ussr and other countries there xshrug

The WHOLE top half excluding Lativa are guaranteed and so are Ukraine so that leaves only 2 spots open. Then you have Belgium, Hungary, Netherlands and Moldova too!

Portugal need close to a home run in song and presentation if they want to be in the discussion for the last 2 spots. Its going to be REALLY tough and their past history isn't that comforting but hopefully they think differently this year.

Latvia guaraanted? What makes you think that if they send the kind of cr*p they have sent in the past few years they will qualify?
Please, block voting is not that big. Plus, Latvia and specially Estonia don't really vote that much witht he ex-soviet block.

Last year the 1st semi-final had 5 ex-URSS countries and 4 ex-yugo, and guess what, Denmark won the semi, Belgium and the Netherlands tied for 5th and the whole ex-yugo block flopped like crazy!
And remember, Portugal finished 2nd on 2008's semi-final 2, in a very hard semi, with 100% televoting!

What matters is the song, and if Portugal has a good one, along with a good performance, we will qualify! Just like we did back in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Now the problem is getting a good song  Let's hope FdC and RTP will deliver.

Re: PORTUGAL 2014

Yes, but there are rumors Tiago Pais Dias is one of the composers invited by RTP.

I wonder why RTP would be wasting time and resources to organize yet another litle FdC if Amor Electro were willing to go? Surely they should have gone internal then. I honestly can't imagine these people submitting themselves to competing against the likes of Emanuel's half naked girls, to hell with political correctness. It would simply be too degrading xdown

@ Portuguese fans

Who is Amor Electro? :) Is that band? Is it famous in Portugal?

And why is Tiago Pais Diaz mentioned here as composer? Who is he, why is he important? :)

Amor Electro? Wikipedia says: 'They were nominated for the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Portuguese Act at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards'.

@ Kenga ime

That sounds really respectable and quality!! Vocal is AWESOME. The type I like, and songs are pure quality! If that band goes for Portugal it would be promising as hell!

Re: PORTUGAL 2014

I've listened to Nelly Furtado growing up. I don't think she's up for the challenge tho.

As for Anna Abreu, I had no idea she's Portuguese! I just googled her name, so if she's willing to do this, then so be it.

I really like Nelly, probably not but she got nothing to loose now as her career is pretty much over...

@ A-lister

I also like some of her songs but it seems she can't sing very good live..the best is her colaboration with Timbaland and with K'nan! :)

I wouldn't like Nelly to represent us. Most of her songs are generic and bland. And I'm pretty sure she would flop hard.

I would hate having a world famous Canadian singer to represent Portugal, even though her parents might have been Portuguese. She can't even speak our language Xshrug
