TVP being brave? Nah... never  The rumors about Edyta are probably true and it's probably not just a coincidence that TVP decided to mark their comeback celebrating their debut 20 years ago (with Edyta which gave them their best position to date). Unfortunately, they're probably aiming at making something "To Nie Ja"-like. I like that entry, but something more interesting would be welcomed plus Edyta don't have the vocals for it any longer.

Re: POLAND 2014

Well, if it's Edyta, I hope for a more subtle sentimental ballad in Polish with some local elements where she can shine vocally without overdo it (like she unfortunately tend to do), and not some big waily "westernized" ballad. Unfortunately I think it would end up being the latter :/
Edyta and local elements? Really? It's a surprising wish, because I've been always thinking that her voice doesn't suit songs with the so-called local elements. My option for her is a ballad too, but a more dynamic one.

With locals I don't really mean "ethno" though, but like that Christmas Carol for instance, that sounds very "local".

What do you mean with "dynamic"?

Oh please stop saying this. The more we think about that, the more it'll come true!
I want to believe we'll have something like the Christmas carol instead too. :)

Enough cheese, (I hope) Polska is ready to amaze us xcheer

By the way, I agree, judges on TV (idol, the voice, x-factor, whatever) are always hasbeens :D

I don't know what to think about Edyta participating again. If that's true, I just hope that TVP won't rely on her name only, the song needs to be really good for their return. Because they could do like Austria 2011 and qualify with a mediocre generic song after years of absence, but that would be such a shame.

What do you think about this "masterpice"?
Natasza Urba

Man, are you crazy? Why are you showing this **** to Europe? Do you want to bring shame on us?
It's completely incomprehensible, I don't even know if it's in Polish or English.
Nooo

C'mon, it's a joke. Let's not be so serious all the time, it's music - it's fun! Everyone can laugh :)

Re: POLAND 2014

I don't really see any problems with that performance xshrug. A male performer may have done similar with that song and nobody would be saying he's yelling/screaming they would say "look at the emotion, look how he feels the song." But because Edyta is female its just yelling/screaming . There seems to be double standard when it comes to male/female singes and certain types of songs.

I think a performance similar to that would be able to get 6-10 finish in the final. A jury would vote for that and some of the televoters would too xshrug

In the end it depends on the song, if they're aiming for something cheesy I hope it flops big time tbh.

Re: POLAND 2014

Well, she has to be confirmed first ;)

But She will have some ballad like 'Nie zapomnij' or 'Obudźcie się' or something up-tempo like 'Consequences'.

Re: POLAND 2014

I'm almost sure if it's a ballad without ethnical elements you'll just call it cheesy

Then you don't know me for sure ;) For instance I was a fan of Shiri Maimon's ballad back in 2005, and that had no ethnic elements xshrug

Though, if it's in a similar style that we got from Russia and Georgia last year, then it's gonna be cheesy and awful deluxe for sure xpuke

"To Nie Ja" is borderline, it worked back in early 90's which was also an era of big ballads internationally (Whitney and Mariah comes to mind), so at that time it felt contemporary and it wasn't really cheesy, maybe a bit too Americanized though. However, if they try to make a "To Nie Ja v.2" for the 10's then I'm afraid it could turn out relic-y and clichéd. Those "big vocal ballads" are pretty much hit-or-miss for me, some are pretty decent (like Spain 2012), while some have been just dreadful (like Netherlands 2005). I prefer more subtle ballads usually, that type of American-Idol-ish wailing is usually just painful for the ears and lack a genuine feeling. A good ballad speaks to the soul, someone just wailing for 3 minutes without any depth or a nice melody is just waste of time and space. Interestingly, ballads almost always works better in native languages for me in ESC (regardless of their style), and I guess it has got partly to do with that they come across as more genuine when sung in the language closest to the singer's heart.

Re: POLAND 2014

Edyta wrote on her Facebook in English (it's of course about ESC, there are also 4 photos from her '94 performance):

2O years have passed and I still remember every detail.
This was Extreme Experience.
For me it was a power of fear, responsibility & expectations.
But mostly - it was power of LOVE

Hmm... is this supposed to be a clue for us? I hope so ;)
