Re: POLAND 2014

I must say though, that she did some pretty decent stuff for her last album (which was overall quite decent). Not sure though whether anything like it would "work" in ESC though:

This is beautiful, but TVP would probably send her with a more generic ballad if she's the pick... but something like this would be very welcomed!

Re: POLAND 2014

If this is true, it seems i was wrong about TVP not even trying. The thing is, i wasn't wrong about their competences. This choice would do nothing, but appease a niche group which already watches/watched ESC. What Poland really needs in this contest, is to gain lost popularity among the wider audience. Ich Troje entered for the first time at the peak of their popularity (and achieved Poland's second best result to date). Górniak, however, isn't popular and even her 1994 entry isn't widely remembered among the non-fans, especially those born after mid-80s. I'd even say she is nowadays most remembered for a disastrous performance of Polish national anthem at one of the world cups (and that was over 10 years ago).

Her music has nothing to do with music people in Poland listens to, which would be ska, folk, rock and even disco (a local variation of it). If somebody in TVP can't see the trends, he must be living in an isolated cage or be just blind.

Besides, she'll most likely go to Denmark with a poor copy of To Nie Ja! and score just as poorly.

Well, I do not agree that Edyta is NOT popular in Poland. She's one of the most popular! Eveytime a new (or already exsisting) musical show starts, she is asked to be a jugde. They invite her to festivals or events like New Year's Eve. People love her. She's recording a new album right now and if she represents us in Eurovision, that'd be a good promotion for her.

I keep my fingers crossed for her going to Denmark.

I won't argue about a person's popularity, but often judges on these shows are there because they are has-beens and not because they are popular, if they were popular they would have a career on their own and wouldn't have to rely being judges on shows.

Well, in pretty much the whole "west" judges on those shows are has-beens or people desperate to save their careers (if we don't count the music bus people who are also judges on these shows).

Emina judging people singing? That's hilarious...

Well i agree that she is not the best choice to judge singing, but there are 3 awesome singers there to judge: Kristina Kovac (she composed Nina - "Caroban"), Kiki Lesandric (rock singer) and Zeljko Joksimovic, and Emina is the right person to judge other stuff, it's show business, singing is important, but not only that. :)

Re: POLAND 2014

Do you mean that "To nie ja!"'s result was poor?

No, he meant that her song for 2014 will be poor, and results will suit it! :D

Maybe, but Edyta is famous here without having to participate in shows The Vocie or X-Factor.

Hmm... on the other hand there is a possibility that her career is going to end. Her last album has been a flop, but it can happen to every singer.

As I said, I hope she goes to Copenhagen.

PS. Sorry for spelling mistakes in my previous post :p

Carola is famous here but hasn't been relevant for decades

Fame doesn't equal current popularity...

Just compare those 2 performances of "To nie ja" (1994 and 2013/2014) and look how her voice scale has changed... I think we really should send someone else.

Well, it was really cold out there and look at her dress... This is just one performance. She has proved many other times that she still has a great voice. Besides, she's professional and I have no doubt her vocals would be in good condition on the big night.

I know, but it still sounds nice and I prefer a sound like this over the supposedly screamy waily American Idol-ish she'd probably enter instead :/

I'd say that her decisions are quite unpredictable now, so you never know.

Well, if it's Edyta, I hope for a more subtle sentimental ballad in Polish with some local elements where she can shine vocally without overdo it (like she unfortunately tend to do), and not some big waily "westernized" ballad. Unfortunately I think it would end up being the latter :/
