This is a great Dutch entry with a message about Europe. I am sure it will be amazing on stage with a big party.

I might be mistaken, but I'm happy to see that, in general, the Dutch really like the song. I think that's the most important thing, for the people of the country in question to like what they're sending!

Anyway, the song has been growing on me :cool:xheat

General feeling here is that this is one of the best things we've ever sent, without really caring how it'll do in Malmö.
Of course there are enough people who don't like it but you can't please everyone.

I was right btw, I went clubbing yesterday and yup, Europapa was played

If he can nail the staging for this and get that emotional gut punch at the end of the music video across on stage, this will storm the televote.
That whiplash feeling from being super happy to suddenly wanting to cry makes it stand out so much.

I watched it with subtitles now for the first time and now I want to give it even more :12:

I hope he can translate that Europe is one continent Erasmus kinda vibe well on stage. I believe that many people feel like that and actually don’t want to miss an open Europe with a lot to do and see together in peace and freedom.

This is going viral even outside the esc circles. Already 3,7M views in less than two days and an abundance of reaction videos praising it. Public is eating it up. Deny Eurodaddy all you want - he's coming.

This is the song that could storm the televote, not Croatia, which is just popular within Croatia and maybe Slo. and Ser.

Yeah I feel like if :nl: didn’t have that song :hr: would probably be more a televote magnet. Now with Europapa I think :hr: is massively threatened by :nl:. Europapa is a more dynamic, catchy and less repetitive song than Rim Tim Dagi Tim. And it’s more connectable for the average outside bubble viewers in my opinion.

For me, this, Finland, Estonia and Croatia’s songs are all cynical attempts at trying to copy Cha Cha Cha. They all lack a genuine feeling to me.
Or the opposite: Out of all the joke and semi joke entries, Cha Cha Cha had some quality - it was thought through -, while most of the others just try to draw maximum attention by all means (the Russian grandmothers phenomenon). At least we can hope that they will cancel each other out to some extent.

But the losers are the countries that come with pleasant midtempo songs. They will easily drown between the silly songs and the oh so lovely old-fashioned ballads.

Oh I agree Cha Cha Cha had something about it that made it much more than a gimmicky wacky song. For me it treaded a fine line between fun and gimmicky, but didn’t go into gimmick overload. It had a genuine quality to it.

Compare that to Let3 whose gimmick was old men singing in the underwear, Cha Cha Cha is a masterpiece. I know Let3 were being genuine to themselves but presented to wider Europe, it was a gimmick and what a ‘typical Eurovision’ song remains for many people.

Eurovision has been changing that opinion bit by bit in recent years, but as I say, that’s now under threat from the Cha Cha Cha-lite entries were getting this year…

To me Joost Klein and 5miinust aren't that since they're the most popular artists in their countries.

Baby and Windows95man (especially the finnish act) are that though and I hope that at least one of them stays in the semi.

True, it could be seen as a backlash: The countries rather want to send something noisy than something that's good (Ireland 2024 being the primary example). If you add the disjointed songs to this category (songs that consist of elements that don't seem to have a natural connection to each other), there is a considerable amount of them in contemporary Eurovision.

Weirdly enough, in Denmark there are still people - even in the music industry - who claim that Eurovision is about simple songs. It really isn't anymore (almost the opposite), but it was, until 20 years ago or so.

I can’t speak for everyone but from my perspective, I’ve been very consistent in my liking (or hating to be more precise) of all these ‘novelty’ songs.

I don’t see the authenticity with this song - it just doesn’t come across to me at all and I don’t know if it will to the general viewers at home. The wackiness will be the main facet they get from it surely?

Honestly I don’t know if a song can be more authentic, more typical Dutch party than that. Also, people are acting if there haven’t been any fun songs before Cha Cha Cha or rock songs before Maneskin. Come on guys. Don’t call everything a „copy“ immediately.

As much as I dislike this kid and this song, he's making these kind of songs in this style for a longer period already. From his point of view it's nothing new. And I'm sure this is the case for more artists from this year.

The influence of Cha Cha Cha lies more at the different broadcasters. This song from Joost Klein for example could very well be quickly rejected last year but this year the selection committee might have thought about how well Cha Cha Cha did at the contest and felt there is room for a more fun, gimmicky entry like this.
