I am indeed dense, baby, but it doesn't need a dense mind to know what they said is a very malicious joke.

On that note, thank God we got members like MopManMoss, Ana, or Boris who can balance me out. The forum wouldn't be so fun without them.
Malicious joke ... relax honey this is Eurovision and you're not Dolores Umbridge

Very Dutch. I wasn't sure listening to this the first time, but second time yeah I'm a fan. I hope this does well.

Okay, so help me here: just post like you used to, I believe we both know what's priority.

I don't like this. Someone had mentioned Little Big as a reference, so my expectations were pretty low. It's not as annoying, but definitely not for me. :4:

The amount of hate this masterpiece of of a cliché Dutch party song is getting is just sad. This is a masterclass song. Hoping for a good live performance!

In the words of the late great Sir Terry Wogan - the Dutch are as mad as a bucket of frogs.

But I really like this. This year seems to have a lot of 'gimmick' entries I'm putting this as number 2 after Croatia out of the gimmick songs

I've been fully on board with the weird entries so far this year (Croatia, Estonia, Finland, plus Switzerland if you count that), but this one isn't really doing it for me. The verses are fun, with a good beat (especially in the second), but the song seems to lose a lot of energy in the chorus... and then the rave part's a bit meh, and the ending is nice but the transition to it feels kind of... abrupt? Incohesive? Not sure I'm a fan of his vocals either.

Add to all that that I at least appreciate the song trying to be different, and I'm interested to see how it's done live, and I end up with :5: for now.

I am sorry but if there were a lot of copycat of Käärijä this seems like the biggest one.
Seems like NLs winning streak is over again.

My feelings in real time:

  1. Fun start
  2. Joost Klein inspires friendship and looks like an Almacor from the Netherlands.
  3. Ok original idea, in a way.
  4. The songs talks about Europe and can appeal to different palates.
  5. Käärijää was worse than the Antichrist. This year it's all joke songs...
  6. I feel the vibes of the Moldovan group that sang about the train.
  7. The song is boring me... it doesn't change and it's repetitive.
  8. The song lacks a little epicness.
  9. On stage, apart from the blaring sound and silly dancing with the European flag that will save the performance, it will be a... xwall
  10. The song will definitely be overrated by the fandom.
  11. I'm sad... I'm going to eat a sandwich...

Out of all the quirky (I can't say joke anymore apparently) entries this probably offends me the least. This year has been a REALLY poor showing for me in that department, usually i'm all for a laugh and fun entries but they all feel so forced and fake. This has a bit of charm about it, and certain degree of authenticity - especially given his underlying message with it. I don't mind it at all, there is far worse entries up. That said, it's not something i'm going to be racing back to listen to again. Down the middle :5: seems fair

Is this a joke? However I cannot deny that it has some charm to it and the beat is good. The rave part is the highlight for me actually.

SUBWOOFER YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES

4 points, if only because it's the least bad of the novelty songs this year

It's a little weird to me how the fandom picked this one to hate from all the "novelty" acts this year.
I feel like it's one of the two that actually seem authentic and not forced.. that's the one to beat for me.

Honestly, other than the underwhelming chorus, I actually enjoy this a lot. It has a nice beat and melody for most part. I'll give it an :8:.

I was expecting an even more silly song. Not that I needed one. There are enough of them already.

This is a 90’s inspired song, to say the least. Not one I’m going to listen to much. Another 4.

Joost released a longer version of the outro as well, which basically sums up what this song is about, and it is incredibly emotional.
Both his parents died when he was ~13 years old.

Translated lyrics:
On Crusade in Jeans, walking through fields,
My Dad and Mom will always be my heroes,
At the end of the day, we are all human beings,
My father once told me, it is a world without borders,
Rain on the window, and I was standing crying at the window,
Dark way too early, it is winter during spring,
"I miss you every day", is what whisper secretly,
You see Dad, I've listened to you

Out of the "joke"/borderline "joke" novelty-sounding entries, this is actually bearable? It also has the 90s euro-dance sounds, which I am sure some people here would love. It doesn't sound THAT annoying. Giving this a :4: and won't want to listen again.
