Had no expectations for this based on Joost's back catalog.

This is way more tame than I was expecting other than the rave part which is by far most memorable segment of the song. I see the lyrics are an ode to Europe and his parents which is touching along with the ending of the song but for the most part Europapa comes of cringy to me.

Better than :fi: at least but that isn't saying too much.

The song I immediately had in mind while listening "Europapa": Nakatomi's "Children of the Night". More this style of happy hardcore rather than Paul Elstak or Scooter first chapter.

I love this song, but for a competition? It's a very unpredictable situation, probably riskier than Finland in the "same" category.

It’s trying too hard to be wacky that is comes across as deeply cynical and purely there to woo those who think ‘all’ Eurovision songs sound like this.

It’s ever so slightly more bearable than Finland but on a par with Estonia, so it’s a very generous :1: from me.

Croatia is still the best of the deliberately wacky Käärijä copycats. I do hope that they all cancel one another out in the televote.

This is quite pleasant, a good act for sure.
Will he able to perform this song? Especially the pa-pa-pa-pa-pa part

Edit: is there S10 in the video?

I guess he is, his performances are usually very well executed.
And yes, that is S10 haha.

I mean in a year where we're all tired of political songs taking centre stage, they really had to send this?
Tbh I had very little time for Eurovision today and I only saw the music video yet, didn’t look up the translated lyrics yet?

Then you definitely didn't get what this song is about but ok
It's going to be interpreted that way by the several participating countries that are not in the eu... I think it reduces his potential vote a little bit.

Yeah? NL has a population of about 17M and the official channel is the only place to watch it.

You could make a comparison of other countries and their views and populations as well but that doesn't discount the fact that it's being watched quite much the last couple of hours, whatever may be the reason.

:0: I really hate it. It's relying too much on trying to create a vibe, on this whole ''I spend a weekend every month in Berlin and watch 6h of TikTok everyday and only wear huge cargo pants'' schtick. Musically, it's lazy, except for maybe the last 40 seconds. Anyone could've written this? It's uptempo yet boring. This is France 2014 but after having gone through a divorce and therapy

*sigh* alright, let me rant for a bit while I'm on a night shift...

This is simply tone deaf, dear. Maybe you're not the audience target for this type of song and act, but there're also crowds who love it. Maybe this is the type of music the lads and boys like instead of us who delve deep into polished pop and intricate stagings.

Blaming Kaarija for making more unconventional acts step forward is spiteful, because televote is the reflection of the people voting. Loreen was second in televote, and more female and dramatic acts have been selected in this year's contest, so what's the point of blaming only one?

There you go. Let the lads have their music be heard.

Also: can we reduce naming more boisterous or non-pop-conforming acts "joke" or "novelty"? Most genres have been in ESC at some point in time, nothing's really 'new'.
Noah fence but you rarely can take a joke here I've noticed

I am indeed dense, baby, but it doesn't need a dense mind to know what they said is a very malicious joke.

On that note, thank God we got members like MopManMoss, Ana, or Boris who can balance me out. The forum wouldn't be so fun without them.
