Re: KAZAKHSTAN 2014

Not much, other than I did a major essay on it once, studying it and had a teacher that happened to have Central-Asia as her research-field.

The ex-USSR/Eastern/Central-Eastern Europe area in particular is also my main studying field.

You've just said Central-ASIA :p

Actually none of them does.

Ok I was slightly wrong there, this is what I'm referring to: the 1995 constitution stipulates that Kazakhstan is a secular state; thus, Kazakhstan is the only Central Asian state whose constitution does not assign a special status to Islam.

What about Greece?

What about them?

Greece has suddenly become semi-islamic?

It has a state religion and thus is not a secular country. Turkey is a secular country unlike how a-lister as a notable Turcophobic tries to introduce here.

Yes? xshrug

Geographically most of Kazakhstan belongs to Central-Asia yes.

Geographically the majority of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia belongs to Western-Asia.

Geographically Israel belongs to the Middle-East (Western-Asia).

Geographically Cyprus is (disputed) belonging fully to Western-Asia aswell.

Your point being what?

Actually, my response was directed at wlhlwn...

Turkey is secular on paper yes, but it's definitely not heading in that direction any longer...

However, that's actually non-important in this discussion, I simply questioned wlhlwn's arguments... because with his/her logic, a country where the majority are Muslims - regardless if they're secular or not - and ethnically Turkic, shouldn't be allowed in ESC.

So as a matter of fact, I sorta defended these countries against such arguments... but of course you're not willing to see that.... xshrug

So your whole "Turkophobe" idea should be directed against that member and not me... and anyway you call everyone who just states anything critical about Turkey as "Turkophobe" which is a ridiculous way of arguing...

Yes, it's not a secular country either. But apparently a-lister is using "secularism" as an argument to support Kazakh debut which is irrelevant at this point.

List of secular countries:Secular state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And again you didn't read my post which was a response against wlhlwn's statements xshrug

If you'd read it all, you wouldn't have written your response like this xshrug

I know you're a Turkophobe or tend to dislike Turkey at the least because you always try to discredit Turkey since I've known you. I'm sure you don't even want to see Turkey in the ESC.

Care to elaborate how Turkey is secular on paper?

Turkey is secular on the paper? care to elaborate?

Your accusations are ridiculous, I guess it's easier to throw something like that in someone's face than having something constructive to say xshrug

No, it's not the right thread for that... and considering your tasteless level of "discussing" with attacking me with such ridiculous statements... I really don't see the point because apparently anyone just mentioning anything critical about Turkey is a "Turkophobe" in your lack of logics... xshrug

And your statements are also ridiculous. But what can we do, let's move on.

Well, so much for being constructive

Yes, really let's move on, because this thread is not about Turkey... but since you attacked me I guess you're totally ok with wlhlwn's statements that Muslims and ethnic Turkic nations shouldn't allowed in ESC then?... something I actually reacted against in my response to him/her (had you actually read it)

This thread is not about Turkey but it's actually you who mentioned Turkey under this thread a couple of times, praising Kazakhstan and implying how it's more beautiful, secular, modern and developed country while Turkey is apparently an Islamic theocratic hellhole according to your sick point of view.

I'm quite curious why you did not say anything about Israel at all, which is a semi-theocratic country located in the middle of the Middle East.

Firstly, I never said what you just said there, those are just your own made up sentences... it's clear you have an agenda and a false assumption about me and that you want to manipulate what has been said... well I'm not going to play your game xshrug

I used Turkey (amongst other countries) as a counter-argument against some points that have been made throughout this thread against Kazakhstan entering ESC, that's the only reason Turkey has been brought up...

Israel has also been mentioned in here yes, and I also used Israel as a counter-argument aswell xshrug

Again, you see and read things that haven't actually been said, you clearly take things out of context and you twist it around...

Re: KAZAKHSTAN 2014

I would be glad to see Kazakhstan in the ESCxheya. That would be totally awesome!xyaay Kazakhstan is very big multicultural state in Eurasia and the native Kazakh nation lives in peace together with Russians or other christian ethnicities like Ukrainians or Germans. Oh and Kazakhs don't care much for Islam anyway. They are very secular and rather proud about their Turkic steppe-nomadic culture.
