I think that UK will not return :(

Yes you're right. The closest we have apparently come is in 2009 when the BBC was considering it. But I don't think we will return at any point in the near future. I hoped that Malta might bring us back, especially considering it was Malta who won and that they're one of our ESC friends.

It seems that the contest still has a bright future, the latest time at least 15 countries competed was back in Limassol 2008

I really doubt that :tr: would participate in JESC when they have boycotted ESC

If not they make a "Serbia" and make a double comeback/debut?

Really shocking to see Slovenia, I can really see a balkan winner this year, having already 3 and possibly this will convince Macedonia to continue in JESC as well I believe.

:me: Montenegro will be represented in Malta, by Maša Vujadinović & Lejla Vulić. I don't know why, still we don't have a news on ESCUnited. It's not a official announcement? xthink

This won't be a surprise to anyone, but this article claims that Channel 4 and S4C will not be representing :uk: United Kingdom in JESC 2014 (although the article seems to think that they are the same broadcaster, while S4C is only part owned by Channel 4.)

Eurofestival: Reino Unido no volverá a Eurovisión Junior 2014

"UK will not return to Junior Eurovision 2014

First it was ITV, the broadcaster representing UK in Eurovision Junior during the years 2003, 2004 and 2005, the announcement that he will not return to competition. later became known denial by the BBC to participate in this festival, and is now the third and final member of the British Channel EBU Channel 4 / S4C announces that they are not interested in that format. Being thus ruled out the return of UK Eurovision Junior 2014. remember that the only chain of three that can participate in that format, ITV retired in 2006 due to low ratings collected during the years when the United Kingdom participated in the contest."

Looking at S4C on Wikipedia, they don't appear to have any connection to Channel 4 at all! I don't expect either broadcaster would take part anyway.

Interesting for S4C I remember a while back them saying they were interested in joining using welsh language songs. Anyway i'm not surprised at all really, I think it will take a win and good results for us to return. BBC was interested after 2009.

Belarus will choose their song tonight. I'll be really disappointed if they don't pick Sokol.
