Sanremo 2021: Vote for YOUR favourite!

Loro non sanno di che parlo
Voi siete sporchi, fra’, di fango
Giallo di siga’ fra le dita
Io con la siga’ camminando
Scusami, ma ci credo tanto
Che posso fare questo salto
Anche se la strada è in salita
Per questo ora mi sto allenando

E buonasera signore e signori
Fuori gli attori
Vi conviene toccarvi i coglioni
Vi conviene stare zitti e buoni
Qui la gente è strana, tipo spacciatori
Troppe notti stavo chiuso fuori
Mo’ li prendo a calci, ‘sti portoni
Sguardo in alto, tipo scalatori

No

Io ho scritto pagine e pagine
Ho visto sale, poi lacrime
Questi uomini in macchina

Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
E parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cosa parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
Parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cazzo parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla

I want Italy to win so badly. They deserve it. Usually, I'm not too keen on whether somebody deserves something or not, but in Italy's case, they've been sending nothing but QUALITY to the contest. Even their weakest entry (many think it's 2011) was still better than 95% of the entire contest that year. I'll be voting my ass off, that's for sure!
Italy 2011 is a masterpiece. One of the best.
I think our weakest has been Emma. Completly wrong.

It's funny, I don't like the 2011 entry much, way too conventional conservative for my taste...

However I really liked Emma's entry which felt fresh in the Eurovision context (was in my top. 3), it deserved a much better outcome for sure.

For me, the thing about Italy's entries ever since they return to ESC in 2011 is that I don't dislike any of their entries.

Are there entries that I love? Absolutely (2019, 2012 are my absolute favourites).
Are there any that I like? Quite a few (2018, 2013, 2020, 2016)
Are there any that I'm OK with? A couple (2015, 2017)
Then, there are also those that are just meh for me and they are not found in my ESC playlist (2011, 2014).

2021 is threading between "I'm OK with" and "meh".

Because they send in such diverse entries, you are bound not to connect with some of them. But that doesn't mean they are bad. It's just not my kind of music. And I don't think they have sent in a bad song so far. But of course, that's subjective. But at least a song that is universally slated by the fandom. Maybe 2014 is the closest to that?

But by the way I would be very very happy to equal Gabbani's ranking.
For sure Maneskin are another story.
Don't have to chop and massacre the song.
Don't need a staging, they are the staging.
Some lights some pyros and that's it.
The best staging of the Maneskins is their energy. A few small details and they are perfect as well

As part of the forum's Jewish contingent I'm profoundly disappointed and genuinely surprised to see both anti-Semitism from any members of our community and a lack of unanimity in condemning it. I honestly just feel really betrayed.

EDIT: I would, on the other hand, like to thank the mods for their quick action on getting rid of it.

The magic of music. There is place for everybody.
La mia città is a good song but Emma got a completely wrong interpretation and staging. She was voiceless, a bit trashy, the outfit disconnected with the song.
It was too much.
I don't dislike the song but the way she sold it to the ESC audience. Our worst risult ever, not counting 50 - 60 ies.

Yeah, that's the charm with music in the end of the day, there is something for everyone ;)

I actually don't mind her styling at all (quite the contrary I found the slight hint at the Roman Empire pretty stylish and not trashy at all), however I do agree there was something off with the overall staging and vocal delivery as well (not sure if her vocals were the issue though or that the background music was too loud)...

I missed the drama. Boo. What happned???!!!

Let's get back on topic.

I've never ONCE loved an Italian entry since 2011. Il Volo was cute and Nina Zilli served some enjoyable Amy Winehouse lite. But the rest was just not to my taste, despite there being a level of quality in each Italian entry.

Also, found Soldi a bit smug. Is it just me?

What are you not getting? I just said that you're not in a position to look down on other people for enjoying uptempo hits or other songs who are not approved by the almighty civilised musical "experts", when you yourself have been a fan of them and you are now as well (ie. Russia 2021).
