Re: ITALY 2019

It's an alright song, I don't hate it but I don't find it particularly interesting either because it seems to just plod at the same tone the entire way through. Kinda shocked it won but just a middle of the road entry If they go with it

This is exactly my impression. It starts out interesting, has a catchy beat and his voice ain't bad (in my opinion) but it goes nowhere. I was waiting for something to happen and at moments it looked like it would but before I knew it the song was over. It just went and on and on and on at the same tempo repeating the same thing over and over and over

THE GOOD:
-This is a unique sound, and I'm always in the market for unique sounds.
-It's also got a unique voice.
-It also has a bit of crowd participation, which is always nice.

THE BAD:
-The song never really seems to go anywhere.
-I'm also kind of confused on what genre this song is supposed to be. Is it rap? Is it classical? Is it a little bit of both?

THE VERDICT:
I'll say that I like the song, but I'll need more convincing if Italy wants to win with this song. Maybe the right staging will bring out the potential I see/hear in it. Regardless of everything, it's not a bad song by any means, and it's another hit as far as Italy is concerned. Perhaps Italy will finally be the bride instead of being a bridesmaid. 8 points

i am glad i didn't watch this live because being goaded into believing loredana could win it all for her to even miss the superfinal must have hurt like an abusive ex-boyfriend. find a shelter for your heart, you guys.

Thanks mate xheart I'm choosing to view it like this instead: in no other national final would it have been a forum meltdown and a half for Loredana Bertè right now with that song to come 4th. I reckon there are about a hundred "Cosa ti aspetti da me"s which have found their way onto either the reject or the cannon fodder pile over the last 5-10 years all across Europe, but here we are, getting to have this and have it honestly contend in not only a national final but a very strong one from a very large country with an NF they take seriously. That doesn't even count the thousands of Loredanas in the US wondering what the hell happened to their place at the very top of the mainstream (& watching their male peers get to be revered as legends). I am proud of her for Exene Cervenka, Debbie Harry, Melba Moore, Loleatta Holloway, Stephanie Mills, and so many more. Thank you, Loredana, for showing the rest of the world how it's done in your neck of the woods and should be done everywhere. I'm addicted to your song; I took the hour and a half walk from work the other day instead of a bus or cab just so I could listen to it on repeat (encouraging sustainable habits, when will your fave, except I just remembered I'm quoting Alaska49, whose fave already did that in 2011).

I think in all honesty it was probably the most painful thing I've experienced in all my years as a Eurovision fan. I mean she was the underdog from the beginning and she was always fighting an uphill battle as the eccentric blue haired rock diva with that earth shattering voice that was surely polarizing, but the reaction to her tonight read like this was hers. No one got a reaction like that. Simone was the only other one to receive a standing ovation but it wasn't the whole hall that stood and it was much shorter. Everyone was chanting Loredana's name and she couldn't leave the stage. They wouldn't stop. As they were doing the results countdown and they reached fourth place and the blue hair was revealed, I actually shouted "NO!". It was such a horribly gutting feeling. What followed was really weird and surreal as well. The audience were so upset and the hosts couldn't calm them down for what seemed like a good 10-15 minutes. I feel exhausted after tonight. So many emotions.

Enjoyed it during the first night a lot, but then I quickly stopped caring about it. Sth is missing, it's still a cool song but hmm :/

Okay. I've ripped off my Loredana Band-aid (say it out loud; it's assonant and catchy). This song is actually really good.

Up-voting to 10.

(EDIT: OH. DRAG QUEEN IDEA. LOREDANA BAND-AID. She performs all her numbers in a Hello Nurse outfit and a blue wig. This has to happen I've decided)

This was me this morning after seeing Oz's selection. God, I was so sad for Electric Fields and I thought Kate would be my last, but now she's my 4th.
Sad for Loredana though, such an icon with such an emotional song.

Regardless of the fact that it goes nowhere I do think its instant and catchy on the very first listen and at ESC that's all you need. I'm sure in 3 minute form it won't seem as plodding so I think with a professional stage routine it could do very well. I don't think it would win but I could potentially see it finishing on the high end of the top 10.

I gave 12 points (three years in a row now for Italy). I was trying to be stricter with my points this year. I usually always reach a desperate point where I hand out 12s just cause I'm starving and feel I need to really get behind something. I am wondering if this is possibly the case right now, but honestly I think this entry is just so fricking good, slick and moody. It's in a different league to everything else so far this year. It takes a lot to get this reluctant body grooving and I'm head bobbing every time I hear Soldi. It's so hypnotic.

Only thing I'd say about it is I totally misread what the song was about the first few times I heard it. I thought it was very sultry but that's very much not the case when you read the lyrics. One of the cases when a language barrier is actually a bit of an "issue". I guess some signs were there though as Mahmood is so.... moody (dat pun) during the performance. I love the way he performs it. I think it's part of the charm.

Having a song like this at Eurovision I think will be a treat and I can potentially see it doing well. Possibly extremely well (do not rule this one out). I don't think it's as "special" as the songs from Loredana, Simone and Daniele in this selection but what Soldi gives us is something very solid and highly enjoyable. It's cool. It's instant. It's mysterious. It does everything so masterfully. I'm finally excited for Eurovision 2019 YES! But I'll need a few more songs so don't stop. Keep going.

Also in low visibility grey writing so hopefully no sees it and brutally judges me.. Mahmood is sooo handsome. Habibi come to my hareem.

It's the handclapping, isn't it?
But for real, I think the simultaneous emotion/edginess and chill he brings to it is really nice.

He's also a great vocalist but keeps emotion well in his voice, so no complaints can be made in that department either.

This is incredible and without a single doubt... meh.

I don't know. Am I getting old? Perhaps: I know this is sort of new on Eurovision but I kinda felt I have heard this song a million times; it's not bad, but... I'd say it's probably my least favorite since Italy's return.

Who knows? This could do very well; younger people may apreciate it. To me, it was very forgettable.

This is starting to take shape as a very bland and subpar Eurovision. I hope things improve soon.

THE BAD:
-The song never really seems to go anywhere.
-I'm also kind of confused on what genre this song is supposed to be. Is it rap? Is it classical? Is it a little bit of both?

I agreed wholeheartedly with both of these criticisms from the Sanremo version, but the studio version answered some of my questions. Would recommend checking it out if you haven't yet.

On the contrary to many People here, I can't find myself liking this song. Listened to it again now a few times, but for me it is a song leading to nowhere. Probably for me the biggest disappointment since I had so many songs loving in this section and it ends up with a song I can't feel a connection to. xcry And I can't remember when I felt the last time like crying when Loredana didn't make it, not even among the first three and not even being honored. Feel simply empty and endlessly sad. But I am happy that I found now another Artist that I will follow in the future - Ultimo. WOW. He was fantastic.

This song is meh for me too.
Mahmood got 14,1% of televote system, that's it. Il Volo got 39,4% and Ultimo 46,5%. Italians chose Ultimo but juries have to ruin everything like they always do. :(

The juries saving the day sparing us Ultimo's insomnia cure xheart

Gave Mahmood an 8, it's an enjoyable listen and v.modern/chill, think we'll get a little more than just a "stand at the mic and sing" stage show
