Ok, I'll give "Soldi" 6 points for now.
I should be thankful Mahmood saved me from results I wouldn't have cared about at all (Il Volo... what the heck?) - and he was in my top 5 in the end - but I don't love the song, and I lowkey fear I may get tired of it really quickly.
With that being said, the positive aspect of this victory is that this choice stands out from the traditional Italian Eurovision efforts: it's modern, it's got an unusual beat and rhythm, as well as a special atmosphere. I'm confident it'll be successful in Tel Aviv as there won't be anything similar-sounding. It's instant and viewers will groove for certain.
Personally, I'm not sure it'll end up being my kind of jam. As AshleyWright said, there is no valleys and troughs for me to dig it entirely. So it's unlikely Italy will be among my favourites.
Nonetheless, good luck to Mahmood!
I'm very happy to have discovered Loredana, she easily would have been my number one. But oh well, she got the support of the public, which is the most precious prize for an artist come to think of it. I won't stop playing "Cosi Ti Aspetti Da Me" on repeat.
