Please keep discussion in this thread specific to Eden Golan and her song, Israel's (potential) participation in Eurovision 2024 and discussions or remarks from other countries and organisations about Israel's participation.

Any further discussion of a political or humanitarian nature not relating to specifically Israel in Eurovision 2024 needs to go into the politics sub-forum. Thank you!

Once the results are released we will be able to tell how many jurors voted for political reasons. Looking at the last three years an overall performance like this would be rarely tanked by the jurors.
Looking at last years ballad / slow type of pop songs we had Estonia which only 1 juror placed at the bottom and Switzerland which 2 jurors placed at the bottom, Italy had 0.
On the other hand we had Let 3 with 49 Last Places, Albina (Kelmendi) with 22, Lord of the Lost with 17, Blanka with 13, Mae Muller with 11, Käärija with 10, Luke Black with 9, Pasha Parfeni with 9, Joker Out with 8.
Whats fascinating is that the super artsy and (for viewers at home) inaccessible Eaea only had 1 juror place it last.

In 2022 we had the extremely dire songs from Azerbaijan (which even got 0 telepoints in the semi), Switzerland and Australia. Excluding the Armenian vote we had Azerbaijan with 5 Last jury Places, Switzerland with 4 and Australia with 2. Some countries votes are missing since they were cheating, but overall the juries focused on putting Trenulețul, In corpore sano, Fulenn, Llámame on their last places. Even Kalush Orchestra had more last places.

In a normal year Hurricane would at max receive 1 or perhaps 2 juries putting it last. Assuming Windows95man makes it to the final we basically have this years Let3 for the juries. There will also be other performances the juries wouldnt like in a normal year.
The thing is if a juror knows their fellow jury members are like minded they will know they won't have to rank Israel last. They could even come up as high as 15th whilst ensuring Israel gets no points. Not a single Azeri juror ranked Armenia last, last year, and I predict the same will happen this year thanks to 2022 jurygate.

You are right about them not needing to put Israel at the very bottom.
Though to not make it suspicious and work you would require for all the jurors (and possibly the head of delegation) to agree on this behaviour. I doubt that everyone agrees that Israel needs to be blanked in order to set an exemple. I also think that someone who is heavily against Israels participation will put Israel at the bottom.
See this years Icelandic preview show: All 4 jurors gave Israel 1 point. Two jurors gave Moldova 1 point. One juror gave Azerbaijan 1 point. Not a single other 1 was given.

Not sure if Azerbaijan is a great example. Their voting behaviour in a lot of years looked fishy possibly exchanging jury votes with other countries (mostly Montenegro, San Marino, Malta). Due to their experience and after being called out they are probably more cautious to not make their voting look that suspicious. Dont think the majority of the other delegations are as 'corrupt' as the Azerbaijani has been in the past.

Thing is in some countries jurors can be sure that their fellow jurors will rank Israel lowish without conferring. Some countries are really small and their music industry even smaller, this gives a huge chance that the jurors will know each other very well, there will be no need to confer. Yes in bigger countries if jurors want to tank they will need to put Israel last but apart from Spain most of the majority anti israel sentiment is coming from smaller countries.

Everybody knows that in a regular year Israel would have been in almost every jury‘s top 10, pretty sure. This has „jury“ written all over it and if we take a look at the past years, songs like Hurricane always got jury points.

This year however some juries will rank it out of the top 10 (if it qualifies). And even if they put it in their top 10, nobody is gonna dare putting it 1st or 2nd, even if they like it a lot. The backlash is no joke.

The same happened to Ukraine 2022. It was not the jury winner. In fact I believe some juries put it lower deliberately because it became apparent long before the finals, through odds, fan polls, discussions etc. that this would be a massive televote winner.

Ukraine 2022 wasn't put low on purpose. It would have been 10th at best in any normal year with the juries. It came 4th due to the countries that supported it. Though it could have come 20th with the juries and still won, the televote was that massive score

Israels televote will be massive if its less than 300 I will be shocked, however I don't anticipate it to be higher than 400. This high televote though will only be due to the current situation.

2021 had a poor showing in the televote because there was too much genre competition. There was 8 girly pop bop songs and they all split the vote

That could be possibly true too. And there is only a handful of ballads this time round. I think all of us know that we can only bank on TV for a Israel's good showing.

The choreo is awesome, not too flashy, classy, but not too boring. Only thing I have is the last verses are a little strained as uses a lot of air. But it's definitely in my top 3 for this year. It sounds a little like if Ariana Grande would stop singing so airy to sing so high.

Wishing Eden and her delegation all the best for today's shows when there will be actual audience. Feeling nervous for her, hopefully everything goes well for her and the team.

A pretty average ballade that probably wouldn't get too much attention without the current political circumstances. Of course, without these circumstances, they wouldn't have chosen this song in the first place. 6 points.

I'm curious if there will be a noticeable political reaction by the audience and to what extent the voting will show political support. Low points wouldn't necessarily indicate political voting since the song is not very strong but politics would be the only realistic explanation for top points.

I just watched the jury show performance, I don't know if it was nerves or Eden could see the hostilities shown to her from the crowd but she was noticeably shaken during some parts of the song. Her vocals were frailing during the opening and the ending verses. It was still good overall in terms of the vocal delivery from her and the staging is adequate for what it is.

I can't imagine what it's going to be like later in the evening but whatever it is, safety first. If booing is the worst it can get for her throughout her ESC journey then so be it. I would rather that than having any real physical threat towards her or the delegation.

For every Israeli supporter out there, please E-Mail ebu and Eurovision, kaan about certain press acredited individuals who are using their accreditation to incite violence or hate against Israel and or Eden. They are mostly Eurovision outlets, YouTubers (very active on twitter). I think we all know who they are, but if someone is interested I will write down in DM who they are. Thanks!

Good luck to Eden and let's bring that top 3 in Saturday Israel.
