Please keep discussion in this thread specific to Eden Golan and her song, Israel's (potential) participation in Eurovision 2024 and discussions or remarks from other countries and organisations about Israel's participation.

Any further discussion of a political or humanitarian nature not relating to specifically Israel in Eurovision 2024 needs to go into the politics sub-forum. Thank you!

A pretty average ballade that probably wouldn't get too much attention without the current political circumstances. Of course, without these circumstances, they wouldn't have chosen this song in the first place. 6 points.

I'm curious if there will be a noticeable political reaction by the audience and to what extent the voting will show political support. Low points wouldn't necessarily indicate political voting since the song is not very strong but politics would be the only realistic explanation for top points.
Hurricane isn't for you. It isn't for me. It's for the Jewish community to heal even if only a little but after what happened on October 7th. Simple as that.

I don't vote for songs I don't like. Wasn't a fan of Noa's song last year but I still pointed out the the bile directed at her and her family.

There are at least 5 songs that can be considered political this year so I don't really care for that argument.

For every Israeli supporter out there, please E-Mail ebu and Eurovision, kaan about certain press acredited individuals who are using their accreditation to incite violence or hate against Israel and or Eden. They are mostly Eurovision outlets, YouTubers (very active on twitter). I think we all know who they are, but if someone is interested I will write down in DM who they are. Thanks!

Good luck to Eden and let's bring that top 3 in Saturday Israel.

And they wonder why EBU wants to restrict their involvement in the contest.

I understand many of us were unhappy about EBU's move to remove these so-called "journalists" during the early stages of rehearsals. But as it progresses, I see this as a positive move simply for the contestants' well-being sake,

"The Balkan Guy" is one of them.

ITV has been running a story every night this week on their main evening news about Israel, their preperation for Eurovision, an interview with Eden, the protests and even showing clips of the booing in the arena last night. So the public, at least here are aware of the reception she is getting and I imagine that is going to influence some people either way in their voting.

Hmmm, interesting. But why only focuses on Israel though, any special reason?

I guess because they're ones they feel is headline worthy purely by their presence in Malmo and the drama around it. They did a bit on Bambie & Olly, but it's almost entirely been Israel.

Hmm, I see. Is the coverage favourable to Israel though? Or it's just pretty neutral with no "hidden agenda". I am not sure ITV's position with regards to their stand and coverage to the conflict, so I am pretty intrigued by the decision to cover Israel/Eden specifically.

I'd say neutral but I guess that is up to debate.

I think it's just the media covering the most controversial entry. Bait. For views and clicks. It's the same here in Switzerland.

As long as they remain factual in their reporting, that's the best they can do as professional media.
I don't ask for much these days when it comes to mainstream media on the reports anything related to Israel.

And also, whether the mention of the booing is going to trigger a positive effect on the support for Eden/Israel, that is just a by-product of the reporting. Plus, I really don't think it will translate that much of a sympathy vote for Eden/Israel. I feel the stance on Israel's participation has been the most clear in this edition, it's either you support or you don't. There is no in-between for opinion or votes to be swayed.

So, so happy for Eden, best female singer this year. Let's see if juries can stay as neutral as the public – my guess is probably not.

How much booing was there? I think they muted the audience and I'm not sure.

Makes me wonder who actually voted for her. I really doubt that many voted out of any actual sympathy for Israel, or even their situation in the contest. They probably just thought it was a good-enough song with a arguably, technically on-point performance, in a genre not really represented that well in either of the semis. Gonna hope they get trashed in the final though. There are so many entries this does NOT deserve to do higher than, even for vocal skills alone.
