Some snippets of rehearsals. The girl can definitely sing and I think it's going to be a very good NF.
I am shocked that Israel is not rising up the odds, especially they have 4 great songs to choose from.
I guess odds should be taken with a grain of salt this early on, but I think it could be a combo of various factors...
1) Israel just recently won and hosted just last year, and sometimes that actually brings a country down in odds rather than up due to low probability of winning again that close and the public tendency to root for countries that didn't win recently or in a long time, and also see my point 3...
2) Juries in ESC dislike ethno-styled entries (which is really sad but yeah, that's how they are) and they are also party-poopers in general...
and now the two more controversial ones
3) There are anti-Israel and anti-semitic sentiments growing stronger in Europe (which is very sad but true), and we could see groups loudly last year trying to create boycotts and later on, after their hatred failed, tried to trash the contest again so with that in mind, Israel is judged much harsher than many other countries...
4) There is a slight skin-color bias in ESC unfortunately, I mean things are getting better surely and the problem isn't really within the ESC community, but there are still groups out there, especially in Eastern Europe / Central-Eastern Europe and some Southern countries, where racism is still alive and kicking quite well even to this date, and while I would stress I do think this issue is a minor one in a Eurovision context since the worst people don't even tune into this event, I think we can't ignore that it is still a reality to a certain degree.
