I have to be honest at first I thought "what the hell is this"............. BUTTTTTT over time i actually think this song has grown on me, it has a lovely melody, better lyrics could make it even better.

Barei was talking about his experience in Moscow, she told that Hovi plastic passport was destroyed by the Russian immigration security guards and they was laugh about him and he was humiliated by them due his affeminate look. (Watch at 23:11).

easily the best revamp of the year. i absolutely hated the song before, and now it looks like it could be a real dark horse in the final. go hovi! xcheer

i don't think border control guards have the right to tear apart a passport, especially not the one of a foreign citizen! this is not just an "incident" this is a serious misuse of their power! I'm very impressed by Hovis reaction, especially when he points out that this should not affect peoples view on the russian entry nor the singer. And I totally agree with him.
On the other hand - to all those who over the past months and years tried desperately to argue that gay people do not have a more difficult life in russia than in any other country (esp western ones), this kind of thing would definitly NOT happen at the airport in Munich, London, Paris, Rome, Madrid etc.... And please spear us the ridiculous "oh that's just western propaganda" pseudo-argument!

I feel terrible about the way Hovi was treated at the airport, slightly discouraging. It didn't break his spirit and I applaud him for that. He seems like a decent guy and even though it's not my favorite song, it certainly is better than some of the hyped song this year.

Now I want Russia to win more than ever. See them try doing that with thousands of Eurovision fans. I can ensure you, there are plenty of "effeminate" guys out there.

I see what you mean, but I don't think it's worth risking it, especially with what could happens once they've dispersed from the airport. It worries me.

What an awesome guy. I don't think I could be so loving and forgiving if I'd been treated the way he'd been. If Eurovision was won on niceness, he'd win by a landslide :)

As for Russia winning, this incident is still no argument to be used against Russia winning - if the people of Europe think they've got the best song, they deserve to win. But it should be taken into account when deciding whether Russia is fit to host in the event of them winning. I do think that people should respect other countries customs, and gay people who are masculine in nature (which I would say is a Russian custom, displaying your masculinity with pride) are probably safe, but I'm not sure if that it is quite a good enough guarantee for me. After everything, I think there would have to be some sort of guarantee from the authorities.

I wouldn't call open discrimination and violation of basic human rights a "custom" that desrves respect.
Yes, I agree with you, to feel save as a gay eurovision fan the authoroties should guarantee my safety. But I may remind you that border control officers in fact ARE a part of the authority...

I read positive things about his rehearsal! Pleased about that, I have warmed up to the song, and he's a very down-to-earth guy!

Israel does look pretty impressive based on the rehearsal.

I am no fan of the song. And even less so after the rehearsal. Yes, I admit Hovi has a good voice. But that is about it for me.... From the short clip I've seen I am not convinced of his stage-presence and capacity to reach through the screen...
But I might be wrong... and maybe Israel will reach the final after all...
