Well I disliked the first version, since it really sounded like a song made for the Aladdin movie that got rejected and was saved till now...
So I had high hopes when starting to hear this new version...and it got better...for like 20 secs...

Wake me up when it ends.... xsleep

All that I liked in the original version has gone. Now its a boring ballad...... Have to downgrade it significantly

The ballad tempo only exposes just how repetitive the lyrics are. In the first version, which had some heft to it, it wasn't as noticeable but now it is. If they were going to change the tempo to make it slower then they should have done so with the lyrics as well xshrug

It seems that Hovi Star is waaaayyyy more able to show what he can do on stage with this version than the former one.

An ok revamp in my opinion, I hated the first version. The last chorus is bad though, it's not enough to be a climax in a ballad... Nofar's version is still better than this though, but I'll change my 0 to a 4.

The original was not the best song but this is just utterly irrelevant and boring. The trashy pop song it used to be was more fun.
Another song I had to downgrade after the revamp.
I give it 2 points.

I must be the only one in the world who prefers the revamped version. It is more diva-istic now!

i like the revamp but WTH is going on this year ? i never seen that much revamp of songs !
this one is actually a big one as it's very different from the winning song.

i'm waiting for Malta now :D maybe they turn Chameleon into a jazz-reggae/dubstep hahaha

The new version of this is beautiful! Israel jumps from 4 points to 10 for me! :D Good job :il:

The song is 3:14, the bridge bit is unnecessary, I'd say cut that and it will sound better and get into the 3 minute slot :p

Only revamp that actually made the song better! It goes from a standard and outdated eurovision ballad to something emotional and even a bit magical. At least one country got the message of if you change it, at least don't make it worse. Well done :il: xclap

Interesting to see the reaction to the revamp - it feels like its genre has changed so much that all of its previous fans are annoyed, but everyone else likes it much more. It's completely reversed its following. Personally I think I preferred the darker, more dramatic original version, but it's close, and this is certainly better produced. Still, it's slowly growing on me, and might eventually catch up to my opinion of the old version.

Revamps in recent years seem to follow a pattern. We'll get a few each year, and they'll be split into:
  1. Slight production value improvements that work but aren't highly discussed (Cyprus/Switzerland 2015, Georgia 2016)
  2. Making minor backing/melody changes to mixed, but generally positive, feedback (Georgia 2015, Spain/France 2016)
  3. Changing the entire feel of the song, thrilling some people and devastating others (Malta/Belarus 2015, Israel 2016)
  4. Turning an interesting but niche song into bland pop and destroying what fanbase it had (Macedonia 2015, Albania 2016)

It feels like there always has to be one or two of each category, never more or less than that. I'll be interested to see if this holds up next year...

I'm another who went from hating the original to loving the revamp. I'm a huge fan of this now. The last minute is so powerful! I'm hoping with a good draw he can squeeze through though I don't expect him to, unfortunately. Fingers crossed.
