I'm not surprised that Erica came 4th out of 6 in the televote. She doesn't really have a strong fanbase in Ireland tbh, she's one of these people who seems to be showcased on RTE a lot with little to show for it. And the song wasn't anything special

I think the problem with Love Me Like I Do was the direct comparisons we have to songs and performances like Slomo, Unicorn, El Diablo etc and that performance wasn't anywhere close to those entries. (even though I'd still say Erica had one of the best performances last Friday)

Going with something more expected isn't an instant no but I think the standards are just so so much higher. Erica needed to be kicking and bucking and doing everything and more. She needed to have everyone screaming at her performance, that's where the standards are for a song/performance in that realm. Otherwise a song like that gets forgotten.

In comparison I think it's a lot easier for a song like Doomsday Blue (or Go Tobann) to get people raving about it.

Very mixed feeling about Ireland entry. Something in me thinks this is a little bit like Dustin 2008. A entry who sceem Fuck you to Europe for not voting for them. But somepart of me actually loves it.

I think i give this a 6. I could easy see this be a surprice Q and credic to Ireland for trying something new. But i,m sure aa lot of people will have this in the botnom of them list.

It's been nearly three days I still can't get my head round why ailsha decided to sing go tobann so strangely maybe she isn't capable of replicating the screams on the studio track but I hated that performance
I think it's also the cause of his defeat. Singing "Go Tobann" in teen style was the wrong choice. Potentially "Go Tobann" had all the potential to do better than "Doomsday Blue".

I know people who love this kind of music, but ugh. I'd rather have some random boyband than this. Let's hope the studio version is better!

I'm sure she will! The Late Late Show has never been a framework for Irish entries' staging.
I'm irish and usually hate our acts. I liked Brooke as she was hilarious and had a great presence. But I have high hopes for this. A great song. Very different and experimental music like this has dedicated fans.

Bambie is a great performer. You can look her up online. She also has a fairly solid live performing voice. Something the late late doesn't show. Everyone sounded bad on the late late show. Its due to the horrible old studio and the crap sound system.

Brooke was a 3/10 on vocals on the late late show. But a solid 6.5 or 7 on the eurovision stage vocally.

Bambie was a 5 I'd say on the late late show. So she could 100% reach 8 or 9.

I'm confident we can qualify this year with smart staging and bambie given control as she is a very talented artist and visual artist.

I would not be surprised if this is Irelands best result since Jedward with Lipstick. If she nails the staging the world is her oyster. Again I'm not being biased, usually I detest what we send. Like the Timid Adults sent last year (wild youth my as*)

She is divisive both here and abroad. Some calling her satanic. Others saying she's too weird or the song is too much. But others saying she's a genius or the song is unique and fun, some saying she's like Billie Eilish with a metal element and a twang of Gaga.

Reminds me of Lordi. They were loathed by half the public as weird and creepy, too odd and the song too much. Also labeled satanic by the nutter religious folk.

But you just need a dedicated genre following to do well.

This could do well. Another boyband would be bottom of the semi table like last year. Boybands are so 00s or early 2010s. Unless they are unique which they rarely are. The boyband era will return but not for at least another half decade I'd say. It's been dead since 2016/2017.

Let's hope for the best, then! I really hope the Eurovision version of this song won't be as crazy, honestly :D But who knows, maybe that's what the public needs right now.

I think it will be. But the issue is crazy on the late late doesn't work well as its intended for a solo act at a standing microphone haha. It could work in a massive high budget arena

Go Tobann was the safer of the two experimental songs. I agree her teen J pop style voice was her big mistake. But i am starting feel Bambie being even more of a risk will pay off.

And Ireland climbing in the odds to the 13th place! (I know it's only January and we shouldn't make too much of this, nevertheless it looks wonderful!)

There is possibility to do something of that but as it is, it is a mess. Both parts don't blend and the singing is really bad.
The whole ouija concept is supposed to look very unexpected, horrifying and shocking (a bit like Hatari when it came out) but beyond the photograph, it's quickly very Halloween party... Well, it's a very Instagram entry but it needs some work around it !

Ireland this year reminds me of everything surrounding Croatia last year... After so many safe years (that took Croatia nowhere) Croatia sent a shocking entry that did well. I am not quite sure about the outcome for Ireland this year since many voters got used to seeing some "shocking" or unusual performances.
However, this allows Ireland to create a proper stage show. It's hard to say how this will finish.
