Why are we fighting when we all know damn well that the contribution from both these islands over the past decade have been nothing short of atrocious.

UK has definitely improved drastically from 2022 onwards. Shame Ireland aren’t doing the same! Same old washed up format for selecting a dated pop song

Yeah but it has a Johnny Logan tribute every year and a peanut butter raffle.

I still wonder what would have happened if an audience member opened their jar early for a quick taste and someone in the audience had an anaphylactic shock

RTE getting sued. "I didn't know this contained peanuts, there was no warning".

I’ve never known a broadcaster to give away nut products to their audience. Normally it’s allergy free items! Just bizarre

You mean they drastically improved in 2022, it still remains to be seen weather that was a one off or not as last year the overall package wasnt much better than pre Sam Ryder.

I mean for me the staging delivered by :uk: in 2023 was great, bang on the money. What let it down was the vocals, which Mae has acknowledged herself. What was needed were some pre-recorded backing vocals to strengthen the vocal on the whole, as done with other countries with a similar style bop where the vocal wasn’t the main focus.

Mae was already fairly established (certainly more so than the TV singing competition alumni we seemed to get both as our act and in our selection processes) and with the selection of Olly Alexander for this year’s contest, I do believe the BBC have learnt their lesson over giving us British fans what we really want. Now it’s your turn Ireland!

It absolutely was not bang on the money, it did everything possible to turn a serviceable song into a last place contender. The only compliment I'd give it is it wasn't has bad as the 2021 staging. The vocal were mediocre as well but the performance had no energy whatsoever and the whole package looked totally flat, it needs to be remembered before the final even happened the UK were the bookies favourite for last place so while the vocals on the night weren't great the concerns were there for more reasons than just the vocal performance.

Mae really isnt that established. You are brave putting you're faith in the BBC after getting 1 good result in the last 10-11 years!

Well I thought the staging was clever and well thought out. The song itself is an undeniable bop and Mae was a fantastic ambassador for the UK. Mae is more established than most of our previous contestants minus our era of sending famous yet dated acts from 2011-2013.

I loved Maes staging. I think it was the sound mixing that let her down in the end. Maybe black was the wrong colour to wear as well

Most definitely. She’s not a dancer either yet her dancers were given choreography that she herself couldn’t keep up with. The song itself though is fine and is an ear worm. I don’t think we were pushing for a win last year anyway what with the financial burden of hosting the contest as well

Undeniable bop and that staging don't go together, bops need energy and/or be engaging which the UK 2023 performance was not. She may be but that's more of an indictment of the other acts the UK have sent rather than how big she is.

They have been rumoured but the latest instagram stories seems to suggest that Bambie Thug is indeed in the selection.

I know Michael Kealy mentioned previously that all the singers and jury members signed non disclosure agreements this year which seems to be the case as we are only 5 days away from the beginning of the announcement and we still dont have any real concrete news on who's in the selection.
