RTE have the money to do a NF but given how much shift they've gotten in the last 12 months over expenses scandals and flip flop bullshit they were never going to do any more than they already do

I stopped giving a shit about who we sent many moons ago I just pray that jedward doesn't come back for a third go I hate those eejits
I mean it's easy to say we can have a NF when we talk about it from a hypothetical point of view, actually carrying it out is another matter. I would find what he says more believable if it wasn't for what's happened the last 10 years, everything this delegation does turns to sh!t so I when he comes out and says "I pushed for a NF" well I'm having a hard time believing him.

If he did "pitch for it" well his pitching skills must be just as good as he is as a HoD.

Our gdp is a mirage normal people don't see any of it, our economy is mostly just American multinational tax evasion

As I said previously in this thread RTE has had numerous scandals over its spending this year there was always 0% chance of a NF not on the late late lmao
But sadly it's given Michael Kealy an open goal of an excuse to not make an effort this year. It's smart, keep everything secretive so the average person doesnt have sufficient evidence to bury him and then when it inevitably goes to sh!t in may he can come out and say "I wanted to do this & this, but the RTE crisis prevented me", he's such a bulls!tter that his eyes started turning brown.

Kealy is a barrier to progress this is obvious but you and I both know how having a dedicated NF after this years rte scandals would go down in our media

I would be more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt if he had a strong track record behind him. There was no crisis in RTE the last 2 years and we were on the LLS so why am I going to believe him now? It's clear to me that he hasn't changed a bit in his 10 years as a HoD so I dont see why he would change lane now.

Loads of excuses as expected but Kealy is basically a lame duck part of a much bigger problem higher up at RTE. He pretty much confirmed it will be a late late show NF again. He was hoping to have a NF outside the studio soon but due to all the chaos this summer that simply isn’t possible now. Apparently he did make a pitch of doing a NF over multiple weeks which would be more cost effective for the broadcaster but that didn't get the thumbs up, He’s basically a one man band when it comes to the Eurovision core team.

The response to Ireland's abysmal qualification record of 1/10 was particularly cringe saying "anyway of looking at statistics, if you go back a few more years we'd have 3 qualifications then." He was being flippant and I am paraphrasing but still oof.

Due to lack of funds RTE doesn't have podcast or social media specifically for ESC. Kealy also says the broadcaster doesn't have time to make an social media specifically for Ireland at ESC due to other projects he's currently working on that are taking up his time at the moment like Rose of Tralee and the New Year’s Eve show concert but he would like to have one.

As a result of being busy with other things he only starts get to hearing potential songs for Eurosong in DECEMBER! (n)

Ultimately firing Kealy would be fine with me but I don't see anything changing until RTE has a complete makeover further up the chain. At the moment I don't think they care at all and are doing the bare minimum. Sadly it's clearly considered a low priority on their list of programming.

The mistake you've made here is you've believed what he's said.

It's quickly forgotten but lets not forget we had internal selections for years which wouldn't have cost much money or required many resources and these selections were equally trash, in fact we got our worst, 2nd worst and joint 3rd worst result with intervals over 5 years which is quite an impressive feat.

The reason for all this is you have an old man who's totally out of touch with Eurovision and clearly lacks the passion required to take Ireland forward, the fact he's only listening to the songs in January (or the end of December if he's lucky) says it all and n its not because he doesnt have the time it's just not high up his priority list because he isnt passionate about it. Do you think if he was on a podcast talking about the Rose of Treale he'd spend the whole podcast making excuses? No he'd be talking about the show because that's what he's passionate about, not Eurovision.

Since it is the Late Late Show again: due to how dire the selection most likely is going to end up, would Johnny Logan have a shot if he wanted to get involved? Judging from his Wikipedia it's not as if he's got anything better to do, and if he wants to squeeze the last few driplets of milk from contest's teats, this is the time. No idea if he would rather do it with himself as the singer with a song commissioned from some Swedes, or as a songwriter behind a younger artist though.

It has to be remembered the selection submission period was opened during the summer and for a long period compared to before, where it was opened after the summer for only a month, so naturally I think we should be getting a better standard of songs submitted.

Cruachan has posted to Facebook that they were not selected for this year's Irish Eurosong 🙄 - hopefully this is because there is a better rock or folk song selected instead, and not that RTE have chosen 6 pop songs
Absolutely ridiculous behaviour by RTE.
It's like they are afraid of performing well at ESC or sending something unique.
