Surely there's some regulations put in place on televoting like in the UK?

Ahhh stop :lol: what do you mean like in the UK? Do you mean the X Factor? That show's about as rigged up as the lights in the Malmo Arena! Honestly RTÉ will get the result they want, there was an episode of Father Ted about it sure! It doesn't really make much difference anyway, countries that select internally basically manipulate the vote by not having one, this is just a little bit fairer than an internal selection.

In the UK there's an independent company that regulates the voting in all the contests, in all the channels. And many contests have been sued for rigging, so no the X-Factor nor any other show right now rig their votings. (/end conspiracy theories)

All of our wins have been with Irish songwriters. Jedward 2011 was the only recent time a Swedish written song has done remotely well. And we're better than Swedish songwriters, anyway

Now I'm not supporting the Swedish Eurovision Imperialism thing going on, but it's hard to make a comparison because pretty much all Irish entries in recent time were Swedish penned

And paradoxically the one entry with some Irish traces in it this year is Swedish penned xshrug

That's true. I guess Swedish/foreign composers are more tolerable when they try to incorporate national elements in the song. The same thing that Babic/Coelho do in Portugal.

Just over a week to go and Can-Linn is the bookmaker's favourite still with even odds! Behind them is Eoghan Quigg at 6/4, Laura O'Neill at 11/4, Andrew Mann at 8/1, and trailing behind is Patricia Roe at 25/1. Yes We Can-Linn!

Can-linn is alright, I expected a major surprise from the way people spoke of it here but it's pretty ordinary for me. By far better than most Irish Eurosong entries though so I guess that's why people are excited about it

Unless Kasey Smith seriously messes up on Friday I think I'll be fervorously voting for Heartbeat on Friday.

It's been progressively growing on me this past while, but I heard the instrumental version they put up on YouTube and it sealed the deal for me.

I guess there will be those 'experts' in the show again analyzing how excellent those songs are... xlol

I wonder what random person that has nothing to do with the Eurovision being interviewed tomorrow night. RTÉ really need to step up their game.
