Only Teardrops received a lot of negative comments last year. But Denmark won.

Who cares what all the haters say?

If Ireland choses Can-Linn, they have a very strong chance of winning in Copenhagen (if they can perform live).

Thats basically what I was saying the other day. If they win the NF they will be favourites to win ESC

BTW... Ireland are 25/1 at the minute... they could be a great early bet! they will go down a LOT if Can Linn wins the NF

Heartbeat has been stuck in my head since I first listened to it so I've had to put it on my iPod, that song has to go to ESC!

Agree... but I think people should be mentally prepared that the Movie Song will win :(

Would Ireland be so stupid?

...would they? :?

Can-Linn are the favourite from the bookies, but Eoghan Quigg's song is so terrible it'll sound good in RTÉ's awful studio, and I think Heartbeat mightn't reach it's full potential there. It's really hard to decide tbh though, I mean on one hand you could say that the juries will go for Eoghan Quigg because, judging from young people's shows on RTÉ, that kind of tripe seems to fit in with what they think is cool or whatever. On the other hand you could also say that Heartbeat is unlike anything we've had before in an NF here, and it's modern enough to satisfy RTÉ. Also there's the slight risk that people might recognise Eoghan Quigg which could push him to victory. It's going to be really close, a really great show to watch. If only it was in a different venue for sound purposes.

Also I hope they have someone interesting to interview in that bit of the Late Late Show that's got nothing to do with Eurovision, and an actual modern Eurovision star for the interval act.

I just hope the Irish don't fangirl over Eoghan despite the terrible entry - at least Jedward had a decent song both times...

RTÉ are not the ones voting :D
They can A) Easily rig the juries or B) Easily rig the televote. The juries isn't that big to rig, so if you rig the televote, it's half the vote, making the show easier again to rig. It's not like Estonia, Ukraine or Latvia where you see the televote in the bottom left corner.

But in a country like Ireland where there are trading standards and other such laws, rigging the televote would lead to a huge investigation and scandal, so they wouldn't dare...

I tend to have a feeling that it will be really close between all the acts, and I think that it is very likely that neither of the favourites win. Patricia Roe might be a good bet.

I could be wrong, but isn't the Irish ESC selections amongst the most corrupted ones? xshrug

:lol: No one cares! Hell we have much bigger problems than a petty little song contest! It has emerged that our police ombudsman was bugged and the Minister of Justice basically told him to "forget about it". A prominent gay-rights activist called out a religious group on its homophobia on national television and RTÉ offered an apology and €85k to the religious group because one of their members was on the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and the director general of RTÉ is a former priest.

No one knows who's on the juries, no one's going to make a big fuss if the televote is rigged! I'm flattered you think so highly of our country but you really shouldn't!

Surely there's some regulations put in place on televoting like in the UK?
