Corrie star Keegan backing Jedward
Saturday 19 February 2011

'Coronation Street' star Michelle Keegan has said she will be voting for Irish entry Jedward in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The actress, who plays Tina McIntyre in the soap, described Jedward's song 'Lipstick' as "brilliant" and "catchy".

She told The Herald: "I was watching them and I just love the song, it's so catchy.

"I've got a couple of nephews and they're all obsessed with them. I'm quite a fan myself.

"I've met them a couple of times now - in Dublin last year and at some other award shows and things like that. They're always very nice and friendly.

"They're great fun and they're exactly what Ireland needs in the Eurovision. I'll be voting for them and I'm sure most of the people in the UK will.

"They've got a massive following after 'The X Factor'. Who knows? Maybe they'll win it."

My favourite song by far. I love their strange way to perform :D Kind of hyperactive. And the song is stuck in my head, can't get it out of there. Go Jedward, I'm sure you'll do well in May ;)

I finally got around watching LLS Eurosong, and I've got to say, this song is irresistibly catchy, and it just gets stuck on your head once you hear it. There's no way that people will easily forget this song. I think this will place well, I hope it does at least

Well, the first time I heard it, before watching the Eurosong, I disliked it. At first, I was like, oh goodness it's one of those annoying songs. But now that I took the time to pay attention to the song, I succumbed to the song's powers, and I'm starting to love it.

I like it. It's fresh, modern and great fun. Sure, the boys aren't the best singers out there but they offer entertainment and that's also important in the show business. With some work on their vocals, they could bring Ireland to the final.

Really ashamed to be Irish now! This is definitely NOT Ireland's choice... never has been, never will be!

Then be ashamed of it, got a few Irish friends who love the song and are not ashamed of it.

What are you going to do if they win, gonna turn in your nationality?

Croke Park last night Jedward performing Lipstick in front of 40,000 people.

If this sh** will ever win any international contest... to start with the ESC... I doubt much confidence will be left about it in the rest of the participant nations. For a first time ever I hope Ireland will strand with 0 points (I didn't even wish that for Dustin or even Donna&Joe).
And if 40.000 Irish like this cr*p... I'm happy to see there are only about that much lunatics around on our total population of 4,5 million.

You have a fair point considering the UK can vote on the Northern Ireland number, and being on twitter at the time by the look of the Trends.. all the UK fans were madly voting for them :p
Falling would've been a much better song, with that kind of song i could've definately seen Ireland in the top 10.

I agree.I'm in Ireland, but I didn't vote for them because I respect my ears too much - and their 'singing' would cause my ears great pain.

I can see that their loyal XFactor fans would continue to support them, having made their minds up to vote TeamJedward before they even heard the song. The twins would've got their televotes, even if they'd came on stage and belched for three minutes.
The Irish jury vote is more of a puzzle to me.

You can't see the juries voting for this - and I hope you're correct - but somehow the Irish juries did vote for it,so maybe the juries of Europe will see the appeal of Jedward, whose only 'talent' seems to be that they look like each other ? We shall see.

In any case it's Ireland's fault for allowing an area which isnt inside their country to vote!
But as it turns out it didnt matter cuz the Irish juries all gave Jedward high points, 1 of them gave them the maximum and the televote favoured Jedward by far :).

I didn't say that the Duth entry was better than the Irish one. (It is, but I didn't say it) I just said I just hate the song, that's ok right? I'm fine with it if you would call the Dutch entry horrific, it's your own opinion. :)
