If you visit other forums/sites you can see that quite a few people favor Jedward performing a song which is fresh, different, bold.
For example the turkish people LOVE them.
We have to wait and see, I'm sure about Jedward FTW
Don't underestimate their social media skills, as i said they are media-whores
Good thing Turkey is in Semi#1!

lyrics lena -not very intelligent
voice lena -well she's a lousy singer
However the song is catchy, happy, performance energetic, chaotic

Hmm well yeah, actually I take your point that if juries can vote for a dodgy Lena vocal, I can't deny that they might go for a dodgy Jedward vocal too - and I think that's a shame. I can overlook the odd duff note (through nerves) on the big night in front of a wordwide tv audience of millions, but if an act (Jedward) is tuneless from start to finish, then they should be marked down because of it,imo.
I don't know the lyrics to Satellite as it's a song that I try not to listen to - purely because of the way she pronounces her words.I don't know if Lena can speak English, but she can't sing in it.

Ahead of the Irish song contest, lots of Jedward fans (and critics of the contest) used the argument that ''you don't need to be able to sing,to do well at ESC - just look at Lena, Lordi, Verka...''
I don't think we should be looking to add to that list (of non singers). It makes it easy for people to bash the contest. Next year,I don't want to see more joke entries in 2012,with fans saying ''''you don't need to be able to sing,to do well at ESC - just look at Lena, Lordi, Verka, Jedward...''

I know some people obviously dislike the British Isles countries entries no matter what we send - you want ballads, we send ballads and you say it's boring. You want famous acts, we send famous acts, and you say they're crap. You want pop, we send pop, and you say it's cheesy .

Oh c'mon, don't play that card. Every country is getting criticized by a small group of people calling ballads boring, same goes for famous acts. Remember how many people picked on Patricia Kaas?
It's just human nature to complain.

You could have a song that cures cancer and brings worldpeace and some people would complain that it kills jobs....but that happens to every country not just to the british isles.

Fact is that Ireland is a rather polarizing song with the majority of people disliking it. The good news is people do not vote for their least favorite songs but for their favorites....remember Lithuania 2006? That was an incredibly popular song even though a lot of people HATED it...again you can't call in for your least favorite, it's not big brother...something similar could possibly happen to Ireland but I just don't see the jury appreciating this so i also predict a flop in May. But we won't know until then...

Did I miss something? You sent Jade and she was praised. You sent Blue and you've got quite positive press outside of the UK. Our forumers liked both so I don't get these accusations.
As for Ireland. Niamh had a neutral or positive opinions ;)
People are not supposed to like every Irish entry but people do not hate all of them that's for sure.
As for Jedward. It can qualify or it can flop. Everything depends of their performance xshrug

@Matt and Aleks
I wasnt directing that comment towards everybody who dislikes our entries :).

And I'll repeat my point again.
I haven't met any single person here who dislikes your entries no matter what. Not only here but on other forums as well. For me that statement sounded weird.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion be it positive or negative. Some people like certain entries, some people don't. Don't start flinging ridiculous accusations that people come here prejudiced against the UK and Ireland because you can't prove that right or wrong. People make up their own minds and if they don't like the Irish entry, so be it. If they think the Irish entry is going to flop, so be it. If they happen to dislike the past 10 Irish entries, why does it matter? It's their own opinion and taste that they have a right to share it.

If I don't like this song/performer, I have the right to say that. If the UK and Ireland send their most famous singers with crap songs, I'm going to voice my opinion and so will others. If you don't like it, then tough luck. This is a public forum and every topic is going to have comments that both praise and criticize.

You've not read what I had written properly... I never moaned about people hating us or not voting for us. I made a perfectly legitimate statement which as you say, on a public forum, I should be allowed to make :).

Your statement accused people who had any negative opinions about the UK or Irish entries as being prejudiced against those countries. That is not an opinion, but rather an offense to people who don't say nice things about those entries.

evilperson, if I had accused somebody I would have said people's names, I didnt want to accuse anybody purposely because I didnt want to upset anybody so therefore I stated my opinion. Why are you so bothered about me saying that??

Because your statement undermines mine and other opinions regardless of whether you named names. That is a lack of respect for people who come here and say whether they like or dislike the song because you victimize these countries as having people here who speak against them no matter what. That is my problem with what you said.
