If we're going on about languages (again) remember that Icelandic is surprisingly popular as a song language, for which A-lister has Sigur Rós to thank

To my ears,
Icelandic-Finnish-Estonian-Hungarian are similar and very nice to hear them!

That's interesting to hear, considering Icelandic is not related to the Finno-Ugric languages (Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian etc.) at all. Icelandic is a Scandinavian (North-Germanic) language, which probably is the closest to old-Scandinavian out of all the current Scandinavian languages.

I agree it's a quite cool sounding language though, when they speak they speak so damn fast to my ears , but in written form I can understand some of it

It's such a good semi final! I only don't like Von, and that's only because I don't like that style of music, but I can still recognise that it's an incredibly strong song. Seriously setting the standards high up north!

I thought the exact same when I was younger, but today I can tell the difference by the lisp in Icelandic and the s in hungarian. Finnish sounds more monotone than estonian to my ears xshrug but I like all those languages, especially estonian.

And once again it’s crystal clear that we can always count on Iceland for quality entries. Again a very strong semi-final. I like 4 out of 5 songs very much en they all can go to the final if it was up to me. “Von” by Gissur Páll Gissurarson is my absolute favorite this week. Such an amazing ballad that gives me goosebumps. On the other hand I absolutely detest “Amor” by Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir. It’s such an annoying and irritating song. I hope it comes last.

Good luck Iceland!

Who would have thoguth that This little island that is mostly known for........ice?!?!? is so good at making music??? I genuinely love 4 songs in this semi. The only meh song is Amor so I will definitely approve of two qualifiers. I think my two favorites are Sverrir Bergmann and Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir. But Vignir Snær Vigfússon is great, too.......I am so watching this semi tomorrow.

Slightly off topic, but Greece is bigger than Iceland. Iceland does beat Portugal and Switzerland in size, though.

Hi Matt!

It almost seems like we have the same taste since this is the second time we fully agree on the outcome for a semi-final. The first time was on the 1st Latvian semi-final. :D

Well, I guess our taste in music is just superior to the rest ;)

I 've obviously listened to these songs since I'm from Iceland, and I also have some info on who is the most likely to go through and who isn't, and I can tell you that the fan-favourite in this forum "Eftir eitt lag" is in the most danger of not qualifying, but "Amor", "Von" and "Dönsum burtu blús" are the 3 lisongs that most likely will qualify and "Elsku þú" is 50/50.

People in Iceland actually like "Amor"? This would be a big disaster, where are the juries when you need them? Let's hope for the best, I think my personal favorite is Dönsum burtu blús though.

Amor is the only song that isn't average in this semi. I'd be shocked if it didn't qualify.
