Only (some) eurofans will complain about the language change! The people who are not aware about what was going on the months before Eurovision have no idea about this thing. And I know that it has more chances in English. I think it can win the SF1!

It definitely can, musically it beats all the entries in SF1 ;)

A-Lister, it is the same song, maybe it's just me, but languages is not my main concern that's why i listen to all the revamped versions with an open mind, meanwhile you stay prejudiced, like "Ethnic entry in english? NO! It doesnt sound good! Why are you saying it does sound good? It does NOT, because it's in ENGLISH!" :D Come on, of course it's not an instrumental music composition but a music instrumental composition is the foundation of any song, you cannot do well without a good one even with awesome vocals and the smartest lyrics in the world, on the other hand you can do well with an amazing music foundation but with sucky vocals and silly lyrics.

Changing to english could've been a fail, but i think they sing very well and the lyrics are good too, the revamp helps sure - regardless this is one of the best entries this year.

Love the bass.

Well, that' the whole point.

Revamp it for English so that it'll look better than the original one.

WOW, I'm being prejudiced?

You just said you couldn't care less about languages, so I don't think I'm the one being prejudiced ;)

Let's make it Chinese then if language doesn't matter

It is a smart move to bring a positive change with a perceived negative one to try weigh on the positive side for peoples opinions. The song does lose some cultural/ethnic feel with the change, but unlike other changes these two can sing in english well. Not sure the icelandic lyrics, they could be more poetic and beautiful - the english lyrics are good, so they avoided another problem that language changes ma occur.

Yeah, for sure it's a smart move, but imo also a nasty one.

I'd wish they'd went the Zeljko route and gave the public a fair chance to have some say atleast, now they put a revamped one with real orchestra in English next to a non-revamped version in Icelandic.

But I'm glad it worked on the majority though.

Do you even know a meaning of being prejudiced? It's when someone is stuck with one and the same idea so everything beyond it looks "not so good" not because it's really not so good but because "it's not what i want". Can i give you some examples?

My friend is not a very good cook and works a lot, she moved in with her new bf who is absolutely sure his woman has to make him hot breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner with no questions asked no matter how many freaken hours a day she works and despite the fact she makes more money than he does, she just HAS to do that. Because his grandmom did that, Because his mom did that. Because it HAS to be so in his world. Does it make her a bad girlfriend? No, she's very kind and caring and tolerant.

Should i go on? The song didn't turn out to be bad because of english, it's still the same great song, it's just become bad TO YOU because you THINK it HAS to be in icelandic ;)
Since i don't care about languages i couldn't be less prejudiced

Yeah it sucks that national selections that choose their entry via popular vote change the entry after the public has made their decision.

Wonder if we will every a standardised national selection format, probably not due to effort and cost for the more apathetic members.

Surely we don't interpret the meaning of prejudice the same

And it was actually you who called me prejudice, I don't think any of us are so no need for personal attacks? I have my opinion, no need to call me anything really ;)

They won't, ironically some people will never feel any pride for their own languages, it's sad... atleast in ex-Yugo there's a different attitude.

Ok :) It's not a bad thing though, we're all prejudiced about something in our lives, and no, i've checked the meaning of this word 3 times to make sure i still remember what it means lol

The only thing i can agree on when it comes to national selections that the song people chose has to stay the same, like to make a rule for all the countries: final versions for national finals, no language, arrangement, structure, tone, lyrics changes after the final results are announced. It's just not fair to change what people voted for afterall. Maybe that will make singers work harder on their entries to present the full package at the ESC. Sometimes NF versions and ESC versions are literally two different songs, that's not nice.

Well, I agree with this spot on and actually that is one of my problems with this language change aswell (not just the language change per se).

So it's the final FINAL choice? No voting? :( I don't really like the english version! I have to say I love the video! But what matters here is the language! Damn you Iceland! I will wait a bit more hoping for a miracle before I give my points. But if it's in english then bye bye 12pts!

A-lister let's go jump off a cliff together! xhug

Yeah, after all they all have almost 10 months to decide if they want to try applying for the ESC, to pick/write a song, make a good arrangement, work on vocals, write lyrics in at least 15 european languages and decide which one they like the most before the deadline  I don't get that in-rush-the-last-moment remastering, re-arranging, language change.

Seems like it, they didn't even give us a proper chance, they went with the "let's release a revamped musically better version in English to make the original Icelandic one look pale and fool the people to like the English more this way". Smart move... however I'm not fooled that easily! I'd liked to have an honest choice here.

A-lister let's go jump off a cliff together! xhug

Yes, let's do that! xcheers
