As I said, non-Icelandic viewers won't care why the Icelandic people chose this song. All they'll care about is whether or not it appeals to them. And it most probably won't appeal to the general audience. The Icelandic viewer chose this song. Of what reason, is none of your busyness. Sjonni is a loved one musician in Iceland and if someone vote for his song, witch is a very good song, to honour his memory, then respect it!! His song is more than qualified to be in this contest and I am so happy they are going and NOT Johanna.

If you wanna honour his memory, please do so. But don't be surprised or upset when the rest of Europe doesn't choose to do the same. Eurovision is not about honoring people's memories.
Think of the bigger picture. The fact that this entry won the Icelandic national final probably sealed Iceland's fate as a non-qualifier this year. The smaller picture says: "Sjonni Brink's memory was honoured". The bigger picture says: "Europe won't care and Iceland's gonna be 15th or something in their semi-final this year".
Because ultimately, the national finals should be about selecting the entry you believe to have the greatest chances of winning or at least doing well at Eurovision. Or at least to vote forth the best song according to your tastes. Handing the victory out due to sympathy? Not really the purpose.Well it will then not be the first time a song won't appeal to the general audience. And maybe the small picture is more imported?? But what happens, the song is still a very good song... and I'm very happy it won!
Yes, what a bad person Yohanna is for wanting to translate her song into English. Bad, bad Yohanna. It's not like pretty much every single song that won Eurovision in the aughts was in English.YES, Iceland put Yohanna in her place! That anglophone bitch. And her song was definitely worse! This is such an enjoyable song and I hope it remains in Icelandic. I love all the instruments, reminds me a bit of Romania's song this year, though the arrangement is different. 8 points.
