It doesn't have big chances to reach the final, though with Yohanna Iceland would've been in top 5.

The Icelandic viewer chose this song. Of what reason, is none of your busyness. Sjonni is a loved one musician in Iceland and if someone vote for his song, witch is a very good song, to honour his memory, then respect it!! His song is more than qualified to be in this contest and I am so happy they are going and NOT Johanna.

As I said, non-Icelandic viewers won't care why the Icelandic people chose this song. All they'll care about is whether or not it appeals to them. And it most probably won't appeal to the general audience.

If you wanna honour his memory, please do so. But don't be surprised or upset when the rest of Europe doesn't choose to do the same. Eurovision is not about honoring people's memories.

Think of the bigger picture. The fact that this entry won the Icelandic national final probably sealed Iceland's fate as a non-qualifier this year. The smaller picture says: "Sjonni Brink's memory was honoured". The bigger picture says: "Europe won't care and Iceland's gonna be 15th or something in their semi-final this year".

I hoped too that Sjonni song will go. I haven't listen other Iceland NF songs, then I don't know how good other were or not. Other singers have got many other possibilities to try for Iceland, but Sjonni don't. So, I'm happy that his song won, even when its not anything amazing, but not also bad. I like it =)

I think they should definitely keep this song in Icelandic. I don't really get why everyone has to translate their songs all the time! What if a winning song would change melody before the Eurovision? I mean that's just as insane :p

Well it will then not be the first time a song won't appeal to the general audience. And maybe the small picture is more imported?? But what happens, the song is still a very good song... and I'm very happy it won!

The song is definately not the worst chosen...there are worse. However I see the same situation as for "Razom nas bahato" in Ukraine in 2005. The song has been chosen by Ukrainian emotions due to Orange Revolution and it finished very low. I think this will stay in the semi.

Keep it in Icelandic!!!; that's the ONLY thing making it a little more interesting imo.

This just proves that Iceland is a very small nation. Yes, his death was very tragic and it's a nice thing to honor him this way, but this is a song contest and like has been said; Europe will not bother.

May he rest in peace though.

YES, Iceland put Yohanna in her place! That anglophone bitch. And her song was definitely worse! This is such an enjoyable song and I hope it remains in Icelandic. I love all the instruments, reminds me a bit of Romania's song this year, though the arrangement is different. 8 points.

Yeah, I'm happy Yohanna didn't won either, but I was rooting for Eldgos though :/ That was the most interesting one imo.

But now, hopefully we'll get the entry in Icelandic *cross fingers*.

Yohanna said from the get-go that she would translate her song to English if she won, I hope that won't be the case with this one.

Re: Iceland 2011 - Sjonni Brink's friends - Aftur heim

Before I say my opinion on the song, I must repeat that, once again, I feel really sorry for Brink, he passed away too soon and it is a tragedy. I really like the gesture that his friends gave him in this NF. But as for the song winning the NF - I think it wouldn't even qualify to the Iceland final (from the semi) if it was sung by Brink himself, and it managed to win the whole thing just because people felt sad and voted for it, because of sadness and despair. Maybe they also liked it, but the tragedy factor is dominant here, no doubt about that.

I don't like this song, and I liked both Magni's and especially Yohanna's entry (my fave) much much better. No final for Iceland this year, and I am sure it is heading bottom 5. Just like people before me said, Europe will not vote for the story behind the song, but for the song itself.

Because ultimately, the national finals should be about selecting the entry you believe to have the greatest chances of winning or at least doing well at Eurovision. Or at least to vote forth the best song according to your tastes. Handing the victory out due to sympathy? Not really the purpose.

Yes, what a bad person Yohanna is for wanting to translate her song into English. Bad, bad Yohanna. It's not like pretty much every single song that won Eurovision in the aughts was in English.
