Well he wasn't really bashing Gergő for it, he just meant it as an advice for his future career. (And after all, he gave the most points to him in the final :))

I haven't heard those early songs of him, wow, he was really young then! I know he is also a (dubbing) actor, but he came to the public eye only thanks to X Faktor last autumn. And though he was out there quite soon (Hungarian X faktor became tragic in the last few editions, with hardly any live shows) he said this gave him the confidence to enter A Dal which he didn't do previously, eventhough he was already writing songs.

Yeah I guess so that Stolen Beat will enter, maybe in the next edition.

Of course he did not bash and of course he did give an advice  I expected Feró and Lila supporting him more though instead of Miki and Misi, guess not :F

Me neither until I accidentally saw one of those other songs uploaded on Youtube the other day, was interested to check them out sometime later. Feels as if he tried songwriting even back then as "Don't Judge Me" and "Madár, repülj!" have one thing in common: panflutes.

Cannot wait to see them! I should check some of their stuff in the meantime, to see if I could get potentially hyped by it. :p

I actually like 'Statements' more as well :)

also same! Couldn't get hooked onto 'Euphoria' much but 'Statements' did THAT for me! Felt confused as to why she couldn't escape the AC back then but maybe because of the app-vote prefering male twinks? Why though?

'My heart is refusing me' is one of the best songs every written. Not even in Eurovision context. It's legit one of the best songs of the 2010s. Euphoria is so basic in comparison. I actually like 'Statements' more as well :)

I don't know like 1/2 of her music so I am not an expert but I'll give it a go.

Joci returns. It's obvious that it's not as strong as Origo but it's good. Hungary should qualify.

Apparently we'll be getting a revamp at some point: https://eurovoix.com/2019/03/09/hungary-az-en-apam-undergoes-revamp/

Not sure what to think yet... it'll depend on what exactly the revamp does, and Hungary doesn't have much of a track record there either way (when even was the last time they revamped a song?).

The start of the song is easy 12-point material for me, but it drags a bit later on, so if they add in a better buildup and climax then I'm sold. But at the same time I'm concerned that we could lose the beautiful aspects that are already there, because there are always a couple of revamps that do that every year. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

"Özönvíz" is my fave song by him too besides of Origo! Really great :D
I remember he said he wrote it while he was competing at A Dal 2017. He should have kept it in the drawer for 2 years :)

You are right revamp is not a thing with Hungary, I think a big revamp of a song never happened. Well Joci did some little changes with Origo too compared to the original version, taking away some vocal sounds and adding guitars.

A new recording of "Az én apám" had to happen too though, because the original videoclip's version (with the whistles, without any violins) was not what he performed at A Dal. We'll see, I guess it will be out soon.

I'm assuming it's just a slightly polished version of the new version he premiered in the semi-final performance.

I've heard the new version on radio few minutes ago. No huge changes, but there was a more powerful beat throughout the whole song, so already the beginning sounded a bit different. He said he was thinking about the whisting but in the end he didn't bring it back, it was the version with violins.

I thought they would release it with the videoclip, which was just uploaded on the ESC channel, but no, this is not that version:

Wow, after reading the lyrics translation, I think this song is very underrated.
I cried a bit, such a beautiful picturisation of a father and son/daughter relationship. :)

Disappointing tbh, his previous entry was in my top. 10 of that year, while this one just manages top. 20 for me... I had high expectations since I really liked the previous one but this is sorta bland to me. I wouldn't say it's a bad song, but it's a bit flat and anonymous. I would have preferred more ethnic styled.

LOVE this! Origo was also one of my favorites in 2017. I'm so glad to see Joci returning with yet another masterpiece. Not sure how this will do though; I have the feeling that this won't impress the televoters as much as Origo did and the jury didn't even like Origo.

Joci has released the final version of Az én apám. I like the changes he did in the arrangement, but I enjoy the song more with his live singing.

Yeah I really like the improved melody, feels stronger and I feel more tight musicwise, which may help western voters a lot I think. The only thing is that I wish the first chorus was whistleing instead of the "Na Na Na", since it would really stand out in the line-up. But it will be interesting to hear this live in Tel Aviv though! xrose

:5: points from me. I expected more from Joci, tbh, the song is not bad and I seriously believe that the revamped version is slightly better and more accessible to Western viewers as well due to being more "punching" and therefore, instant but overall, the song just falls flat.
I don't think Hungary will qualify, tbh, and that would shock a few people since Hungary has been part of the grand final since 2011.. but I guess, all good things have to come to an end someday
