Calling "Oh Boy" inauthentic and calling "Naiv" authentic just because of the language... uhm...?
Ryk composed and wrote Oh Boy all by himself and its about his specific experiences, while Naiv is a bland plastic schlager reject that got passed around cause no one else wanted to sing it. There's nothing authentic about it and Marie can't even sing.

Authentic to ones country doesn't matter if the song is garbage and performed poorly. I take a well performed song that is authentic to the artist, cause that is actually the key to doing well, not language. Language can help but if the song sucks, it doesn't matter. Spain send spanish songs for ages and flopped all the time still.
It’s been done before. You have not sent a German language entry in many years. That was my point

Then wait a little longer please until we have a decent entry. If a song in German is fantastic, then I will gladly support it. But "Naiv" is it not. Sorry.

And we should keep people waiting until we have a good entry in german to offer, performed by someone that can actually sing.
I'll settle for the Spaghetti Bolognese song when you select Ryk and come bottom 5 again ;)

Max - what a waste! I was excited when I heard he would be part of our NF, and then he came up with such a boredom of a song. I just can't.

This exactly. I love Max, I love the way he sings – but I don't love Forever Strong, quite the opposite actually :(

Ok, I believe it is time for my confession...
I don't like "Oh boy" Although it has all the ingredients to match my taste, I just don't feel it. Especially the production of the song sounds weird and confusing at times - There is so much going on with the sound, and it just sounds overproduced to me.

Regarding the NF, I don't think that this has a valid chance of winning. This might change with a veerry good performance, but I fear this wont stand a chance with the televote.

Despite all this, I don't think one of the other song from our NF would have a better chance in Sweden

I think that Max is underestimated too much here and in the end he will be the one (alternatively Bodine) who will snatch the victory from Ryk. It's true, he has a "trivial" song for him but... does the song really always count? There are artists who are a guarantee precisely because of their vocal and acting strength. For example, I keep saying that France's "Mon Amour" is a very basic song but Slimane elevates it to maximum power and I see it difficult that France can't aspire to a Top 10. For me, "Oh Boy" is the typical choice safe and the public doesn't appreciate this at the end of the games. "Oh Boy" is a photograph of an emotion. You see it and you like it but you don't live it. If I'm not mistaken, tonight the agony will finally end and we will know who will represent Germany at ESC 2024.

Rehearsals start today - today only for the Press though. Tomorrow we will know more.

It would be a shame to send a meaningless song, if we have a diamond. But yes, I expect Ryk to lose because the German audience is not known for being risky (last year was different because people wanted to avoid Ikke). Should Ryk win against my expectations, it would be the best representant in years - yes, better than even my beloved LOTL.

In addition to the new acts and presenter Barbara Schöneberger, multiple ESC participant Mary Roos, entertainer Riccardo Simonetti, pop star Florian Silbereisen and singer Alli Neumann will also take part in the ESC preliminary decision on Friday evening. There will also be a reunion with the two coaches of the talent competition “I want to go to the ESC!”, Conchita Wurst and Rea Garvey.
This year's international juries come from Spain, Lithuania, Switzerland, Austria, Great Britain, Sweden, Croatia and Iceland.

Great, Max being pushed. We ARE doomed.

I don't think it really matters since our national final kicks off at 10:05 pm and we only got 9 candidates.

Marie and Max are the biggest names and therefore, placing them "last" in the draw is reasonable. Ryk got a "good draw", too since he's the favourite of the ESC bubble and NinetyNine as the opening act is fine too (radio-friendly, generic, inoffensive, chanceless but kinda "uplifting").

Max was obvious to me as soon as he was announced. Maybe he was even the reason the application deadline was extended...

I had to laugh though when he said in an interview he hasn't followed Eurovision since his participation in 2004. Like, it shows :ROFLMAO:

I genuinely don't care anymore. I don't feel passionate about any entry and I also don't feel negative passion about Max even though I dislike the song as much as you can. But Ikke I hated so much that I could bring myself to vote for LOTL despite not caring for that either. Here I'm just meh about everything.

I don't think Max will do anything in Malmö but a lot what has said about Ryk goes for Max too. Good singer, ballad. I wouldn't rule out a few jury points if the ESC line-up continues to be very televote friendly. I still can't at how well the imo mediocre Estonia Bridges ballad made it last year.

Anyway, can we talk about the guests? WHHHY did they bring back Simonetti and Silbereisen as if these two were some kind of Eurovision royalty. They were unbearable last year, especially Silbereisen who clearly has no clue about Eurovision.
