Hm, I don't think so. Bodine's song is much better than Black Smoke or that fake Titanium thing

I agree with you - but "being better than "last place in televoting"" shouldn't really be some criterion for us to get excited about an entry. Bodine's song is still Bottom 5 material, imo (but at least, it would sound great as part of ESC playlists).

our first "openly LGTBQ+" entry (Ryk).
That's not true, Jendrik is openly gay, Jamie-Lee is non-binary, Ela from Elaiza is a lesbian, Oscar who sang Miss Kiss Kiss Bang is openly gay, Lucy from the No Angels is a lesbian, so he is by far not the first queer to represent Germany, not even in recent history.

It's true, though - I was referring to the "entry" (song) not the "entrant" (performer).

I didn't agree with Realest on his second sentence than rather on his first that Ryk could be top 10 and also that Marie brings some kind of personality. But in Marie's case that is not enough. I have never seen her doing a great choreo and for such a song you need this to stand up against the other uptempo songs. I even doubt that she has a decent live voice. So for me Bodine is my second favorite. I like her song, she will bring a good voice, but I doubt that her performance/staging will be good enough. But we will see. ;)

I really can't see how Ryk's "Top 10" potential.

Many Countries try desperately to copy "Cha cha cha" (Finland, Croatia, Estonia, Netherlands, Ireland), send bad Songs without any Appeal (Czechia, Albania, Luxembourg), dont care about the Juries anymore (Norway, Serbia, Moldova) or wont do well with the Juries for other Reasons (Israel, Iceland). Ryk would be the only possible Jurypleaser right now, maybe with Italy together and most Countries with NFs wont sent another.
But as I said, its only "Top10 Potential", I dont say its safe. Lets not forget, that last Year we sent a Winner-Package to JESC, just to end up in the Bottom5.

Agree on everything. But talking of Jury-pleaser, I would also put France there.

We dont use proportional Voting anymore?
No cause that wasn't the 50:50 ratio they want. The maximum points the jury can give to one entry is 96 when they all give 12 points. The public could give much more than that as we've seen last year.

I thought it had been known for a few days.

I think it's a huge mistake.
I would ditch the internatinal juries (they were responsible for coming up with this line-up and know they should also rank them?!?!).

All Big 5 countries submit songs in their national languages, btw.

Fair enough.

I just think it's a pity we are the only Big 5 country constantly snubbing our on language in favor of radio-friendly and generic pop songs in English (granted, we've got very rare examples of different genres but I'm afraid of getting Max this week xD)

Well, we also have the language that sounds the worst out of the Big 5 :ROFLMAO: I'd totally send a song in Italian if that was our language (not Luca though lmao).

Cause their languages still have a broad international appeal and are romanticized in pop culture. German on the other hand isn't, cause it's not a pretty language. German isn't viewed as romantic like french, italian or spanish. It's known as harsh and angry and it's no surprise that "Ich kündige" went viral in the international bubble since it reflects the stereotypes people have of german.

Also that's just a reflection of our actual music scene that there is a lot of english. That's a lot of the music our industry produces and listens to, if you don't focus on rap or schlager. And I don't want a forced nationalistic portrayal of Germany that acts as if german songwriters are primarily writing german songs. I want the actual industry to be represented.

Edit: To put it into perspective the german single charts have 8 english songs in the Top 10, 1 french song and 1 german song.
