There are now rumours that it will be the last time for NDR this year, instead MDR might take over. MDR??? Is that really better?

Everything is better.

I just read in that Eurovoix article "MDR is more music orientated" and assumed that was better. Come here to see the reaction and apparently it's a worse choice than NDR. If that's the case then it's a real shame for you guys.

Basically all music shows of MDR are cheesy Schlager shows no one under the age of sixty watches.

If you want to torture yourself, this is an average MDR music show.

WHERE IS THE GERMAN GERMANY

Well, the same goes for Sweden, but with more success. German songs are mostly written for the domestic market. Over the years English has become a kind of unofficial second language here and many songwriters think it's easier and more profitable to write in English because you can reach a wider audience and people should be able to understand the lyrics. The words in German are also longer and the German language may not be as flexible with sentence structure. The problem is that many of them overestimate their English skills and pronunciation or fail to convey their emotions because of the foreign language.

Some German Songs:

Oh Boy could be Top 5 material in Malmö with tasteful staging if Germany chooses him. From the current ballads we know so far (including potential winning ballads in their NF's), I can say with ease that he has everything to win the jury vote more than any other country this year and by a very comfortable margin ! However there's something a little thing missing in my opinion to be considered as a potential winner (but who knows). What are the conversations in Germany actually about the songs ? I guess they are all crazy about Ryk song ? or maybe they talk about other songs as well ?
