Oh did she? Well at least it was low compared to other countries. But these kind of votes thankfully are not too dominant these days. Back then you could get 12 points from the televote if the contestant was from that country.

That definitely doesn’t scream last place!

If you remove the highest and lowest three places (like you would do to determine the exact average) we were in a range from 11th - 19th place and that’s definitely more accurate! They belong in that range!

I was almost certain Germany would end up between 11-15 position because it has a good running order and a competent performance. Gutted that it ended last, totally did not deserve it. I mean I not a fan of the song, but after seeing the performance, I was sold. Just surprised people didn't connect with the performance. It's not even aggressive, so technically it shouldn't even turned people off.

Man, I didn't even like this song and I'm still disappointed. LOTL seem like such great guys, and I really thought that their sound and style would stand out and get Germany out of the bottom 5. I really worry what this will mean for the future of German songs, will it be another 5 years of blandery? I fear NDR will use this as 'proof' that going outside the box doesn't succeed. What does Germany need to do well? What was it that Michael Schulte had that broke the curse for that one year?

This is what I'm worried about....

I'm curious what approach Germany will take next year. They seem hopeless.

Something ethno/electro/indie would be lovely. Or a strong ballad. Honestly just having something I can fully get behind would be awesome. Haven’t had that in a long time. (Wasn’t even too fond of Schulte‘s song - the performance was great though)

too bad only time Germany sent a good entry in recent years was when eurovision was cancelled
that was a bop

I'm not the biggest fan of Ben's song but Imo it was our best attempt. That was a quality entry which would've had a chance with the juries. I simply want a good Eurovision entry. A power ballad, a yas queen bop, idk. Maybe we should just buy a song from another country like Azerbaijan does sometimes. Give Iveta something like Cleopatra and let her slay the televote, lol.

Yeah, undeserved last place.

Personally, I enjoyed their sound and the melody shows up in my head from time to time.

Next year go with some lame dance and year after that just hit ‘em with Rammstein. Just a suggestion…

I think the studio version of Violent Thing was really good and promising, but I feel like we would have had a Mae Muller situation on our hands in terms of live performance. Just probably not the right artist + a song that's not easy to pull off live.

I liked also Ben Dolic' song, but live it would have been a disaster. We performed once and it didn't sound good at all.

P.S. That's also what makes me worried. In our NF this year many were off-key. NDR should really listen them how they sing live beore they pull them into the whole thing.

ARD will change everything again and come back to boring radio songs like in recent years. Gerling already said that indirectly...We should withdraw.
