This is such a meaningful, powerful, dramatic entry and a reason why I fell in love with Eurovision in the first place.
If I want to listen to songs like Cyprus and Switzerland and Sweden only, I can just turn on the radio and call it a day.
Don't get me wrong, I love/like the entries I just mentioned but I love it that Eurovision is a place for everyone and it should stay that way!
I want to see traditional ways of singing, modern sounds, dramatic ballads, camp and cheesy entries and great performances alike.

Georgia's entry got so much potential! It just needs a nicely done revamped version to shine!

I'm deliriously happy I was able to surprise you a bit. So Georgia is really your favourite entry this year? - That's lovely and really refreshing! - Most people I talk and write to seem to hate it which I seriously can't understand. I love the song's built-up, it's super dramatic without being cheesy and I can totally understand its pain and anger without being able to understand Georgian.
Also, I love his voice as well. I just hope that it will have a fair chance to qualify in May

Re: GEORGIA 2019 - Oto Nemsadze - Sul Tsin Iare

I've been active in the ESC fan club on facebook these last few days and apart from horrible attitudes of people in there I'm struck by how many have this song in their last place. I feel so sorry for Oto's brother (and other family members) who is active there for how much rudeness he has to put up with. People are literally saying the song is shit right to his face. I feel like the hate towards Georgia in the fandom has turned into some kind of opposite fanwank. I feel like people must be so swept away by the dislike this song gets that they can't possibly make up their own opinion about this song so they just join the hate bandwagon instead. I just can't accept that this is a bad song. Maybe I'm delusional, because I'm seriously starting to question myself but I have a feeling that I'm not.

Apart from the fact that the Georgian entry doesn't deserve to get hated on that much, I don't get parts of your posts.
Do you imply that Oto's brother is a huge Eurovision fan and getting pissed off and hurt due to fans on Facebook writing negative comments on "Sul Tsin Iare"?

I can't tell you the reason why he's there because I don't know. I've seen him post a few times to promote his brother and very few people have nice things to say about the song. He'll be like "Oh, how come you don't like the song?" And someone will be like "Because it's shit.". Now some criticism is always to be expected regardless of who you are (and you shouldn't expect too much out of people's behavior online anyway), I just think it's unfortunate that people close to Oto has chosen to subject themselves to it, especially considering the overwhelmingly negative reaction it has gotten for whatever reason. It must feel very discouraging which is unfortunate because it's actually a very beautiful song imo.

Another thing I've noticed is that while many people have this song very low in their personal rankings, the ones who don't tend to have it VERY high. It seems like a song that you either love or hate it (most people seem to hate it though...).

I found this written by one Georgian.
It explains to some point what is "Varada"..it is a bit complicated and not in Georgian language, but Abkhaz....

"So, "Sul Tsin Iare" means to always move forward. The shirt that he is wearing shows barb wires on it, which represents those wired fences that distance us from our taken territories. So the lyric is saying to always move forward, search for it, find it, to walk walk a lot ; somewhere they're singing with their heart; there are wires; they're singing, there are wounded (or wounds) but they're still singing. Then comes “Varada” part. I’m embarrassed because I don’t know exact meaning of the word. But It’s some kind of expression like la la la or something like that but this is folklore type and it does mean something important.

Then the lyric continues by saying to move forward, walk a lot you’ll find, the lost songs. And to reach your voice to them - sing with your full voice. Walk, move forward with your heart (follow heart) Then he still mentions wounds and to walk over that barbed wire. Fathers and sons are singing “varado” saying that we will not part away, will not split up, won’t separate . Follow your heart and walk across the sea. With songs and singing we heal each others wounds.

So basically to sum this up.-- This song describes the feeling of a nation in general. After the war many people died, civilians and non civilians, young soldiers, which we couldn’t get over it, we still cry because of that, mourn over it. But nation continues to sing and to heal each others wounds through singing and being together; Also sends a message to be strong no matter what and to stay optimistic about returning our territories one day. To believe in that and to walk over those barbed fences. This is the voice of Georgians which needs to be heard. And it’s not just us who has similar problems, other countries faced this problem in the past or still facing today so I think this topic and message is very relevant today and very relatable.

Some Georgians and non Georgians are very pessimistic about this song which I kinda get it because you would rather listen to upbeat songs and think that those types of music has more chance but at the same time I’m a little upset because not everything in our life is upbeat or bubbly. Sometimes we need to hear other tough, real and painful stories to learn from it and to fix it by being together. Hiding it and not showing nothing will be fixed. There are important issues in the world that needs to be addressed. I believe and it’s just my opinion that Eurovision should be about showing authentically what you want to say to the world, reaching out to others, giving motivation, or hope to teach something, to inspire others and so on.
I’ve seen other reviews where they’re not just harshly criticizing but using words that’s kinda insulting. So if some people don’t like the song or music it’s fine but at least don’t laugh at it, especially when you don’t know the meaning, or the pain behind it, and don’t insult the nation by that.

So as a Georgian I want to say that I’m on your side Oto. I’ll root for you. I think with a great staging, with his powerful performance and vocal the song will do good. And even if it’s not gonna qualify, I’ll be still grateful and proud that you sang this song on that stage which is a very big step already.
P.S. the staging there will be different. This this a finale of a Georgian Idol which he won. People voted for him and a song too. There was a separate voting for the songs, because initially there were a lot of songs. then it came down to 4 and then 1 when he won..."

If anyone's still looking for the video, I found this:

Personal opinion: minor changes, but decent! The beginning seems to build a bit better now.

I actually prefer the vocals in the live version - I feel like the emotion comes through better there - but obviously that shouldn't be an issue in May

I love late March/April. Countries jockeying for position in my ranking and throwing things out there to move up. A great live performance here, a strong revamp there, a charming interview somewhere else, I love it. Georgia making a great opening play xheat The studio version is fantastic and has definitely moved Georgia up my ranking. I love how off the melody sounds. Great job! Certainly moving up my rankings!
