So 2014 was my second, and first full, year participating in FSC. Result-wise this was more of a bumpy ride for Sweden than the previous year with highs and lows, but regardless of that all in all I'm proud of most of my picks for this year.

In 2014 we saw some familiar faces from 2013 with comebacks by Panda Da Panda, Veronica Maggio and Kristin Amparo. 2014 also marked the year of the international breakthrough for Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo, which was celebrated in FSC by entering her twice to the contest. Sweden also got its third FSC victory total (and second since I entered) this year with Lykke Li's Gunshot. Just like in 2013 it was important for me to atleast submit around 50% Swedish language songs to the contest, and I tried to try out different musical styles (but always staying true to my own taste and never selling out).

2015 already started, but nonetheless I wish you all a continuing great 2015 and I hope that there was atleast something for everyone from the Swedish FSC 2014 repertoire to take with you in the new year. My satisfaction comes from sharing music I like with others and for possibly introducing something new aswell and hopefully see a positive reaction from it all, if a song might not first have fitted your taste but lately grew on you, that's another big win and shows how elastic music can be.

1987 is the alias for remixer, singer-songwriter and producer Victor Holmberg's musical solo project. Holmberg is also the second half of indie duo Montauk. The Swedish entry for March 2015; Bomb, is the third single of Holmberg's solo project 1987 and premiered in Sweden back in late October 2014.

Bomb is a melancholic indie-electro pop song in Swedish with a certain atmosphere.

Ji Nilsson

27-year-old indie act Josefina "Ji" Nilsson is a fresh name on the Swedish music scene. Nilsson debuted in the autumn of 2013 with her track Tell Them. In 2014 she released the track Heartbreakfree, which was the first time she got some attention, even internationally, partly due to the claims that Gwen Stefani had copied parts of the song in her single Baby Don't Lie which was released later in the same year.

The Swedish entry for FSC#74 - April; Encore, is the latest solo single by Nilsson. The song originally premiered back in October 2014 and is a smooth, sweet and melancholic indie-electro-R&B-Pop track.

Lisa Nilsson & Joakim Berg

For this May edition, Sweden is sending a duet consisting of two of the biggest names in Swedish music; Lisa Nilsson and Joakim Berg.

Now 44-year old singer (-songwriter) Lisa Nilsson, debuted back in 1989 and after a couple of English releases with producer William (Billy) Butt and a fourth place at Melodifestivalen 1989 with Du (You), she got her real breakthrough in 1992 though with the single (and album) Himlen runt hörnet (The Heaven Around the Corner). Other well known Nilsson songs are Varje gång jag ser dig (Everytime I See You) [1992], Tror på dig (Believe in You) [2000] and Långsamt farväl (Slowly Farewell) [2003]. Nilsson has released six Swedish studio albums aswell as three English-language ones to date and has also been acting in a couple of Swedish TV-series and movies.

45-year old singer, songwriter and composer Joakim Berg is the lead-singer of and guitarist in one of the most successful Swedish rock-bands to date, the Swedish alternative-rock band; Kent. Kent debuted back in 1995 and got their first mainstream success with their follow-up album Verkligen (Really) and its lead-single Kräm (Cream) in 1996. Other famous Kent songs are: Om du va här (If You Were Here) [1997], Musik Non Stop (Music Non Stop) [1999], Dom andra (The Others) [2002]. Berg has also done songs to other Swedish artists and worked with names like Petra Marklund (FSC#51), Lisa Miskovsky (FSC#58), Titiyo, Alina Devecerski (FSC#69) and Erik Hassle and has written FSC-winner Händerna mot himlen aswell as Titiyo's 2001 hit Come Along.

The Swedish entry for May 2015; Innan vi faller (Before We Fall), is a somewhat serious and melancholic mid-tempo ballad with a sort of dark undertone, subtly pompous with ambiguous lyrics that can be interpreted in several ways describing both a broken relationship and a broken or even dystopian society dreaming of what was lost or better.

This edition Sweden is doing a risky choice sending the Beastie Boys inspired melancholic Swedish Indie-Hip Hop song Paradise Jokkmokk which is a quirky ode to rapper/singer Magnus 'Kitok' Ekelund's place of origin, the Northern small town of Jokkmokk in the very Northern region Lappland in Sweden.

28-year old Ekelund debuted back in 2011 as part of the, now dissolved, indie-rock band Magnus Ekelund & Stålet. The band released three albums until 2013 when Ekelund left to pursue a solo career. Paradise Jokkmokk is the debut single of Ekelund's solo Musical Hip-Hop project Kitok and got released back in September 2014 in Sweden. The name Kitok is taken from Ekelund's Sami family name, and this marks the second time Sweden is sending a Sami-rooted act to FSC.

Axwell Λ Ingrosso

For this July edition, Sweden is sending the EDM/House/Club duo Axwell Ʌ Ingrosso consisting of former members Axel Axwell Hedfors and Sebastian Ingrosso of the now defunct Swedish EDM/House music act Swedish House Mafia. The two DJ's and producers teamed up together with third DJ/producer Steve Angello (Steven Angello Josefsson Fragogiannis) in the late 2000's and got their breakthrough back in 2010 as part of the Swedish House Mafia project. The trio became one of the most internationally successful acts of the new wave of Swedish EDM/House music. The trio went on to achieve international success including five UK top. 5 singles (including their most commercially successful single Don't You Worry Child which became the trio's only #1 UK single and top. 10 hit in the US aswell as the top. 10 entry of FSC#29 - July 2011; Save the World).

The entry for this FSC edition On My Way, released in March, is the duo's third single and became their second top. 20 hit in Sweden, the melodic club track includes vocals of Salem Al Fakir (FSC#23 and runner-up in Melodifestivalen 2010). The song is great for the summer and for parties and is another representation of the Swedish EDM/House wave in FSC.

I'm fearing the short stream of good results for Sweden since I joined in 2013 aswell as the beginning of this year might be over, but I'm crossing my fingers that Sweden might be coming back strong again in this contest.

Sweden is continuing the summer in a party mood by sending the electro-dance-pop duo Icona Pop for this August edition. The duo, consisting of members Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo who both previously attended the same music school in Stockholm, was formed back in 2009. The duo got their breakthrough with the single I Love It (featuring British singer-songwriter Charli XCX) back in 2012 which ended up as a chart hit around the world topping the UK Singles chart aswell as becoming a top. 3 hit in Sweden, Germany, Italy and Australia amongst others and also a top. 10 hit in USA and Canada.

The FSC entry for this month; Emergency, is a fun, fresh-sounding party-stomper which mixes modern electro-dance-pop with jazzy swingy tunes inspired by the 1920's era resembling something out of The Great Gatsby soundtrack. The track is taken from the duo's upcoming third album and features vocals by Swedish singer-songwriter Erik Hassle, who also co-wrote the song together with Hjelt and Jawo. Hassle is mostly known in Sweden for his 2008 debut single Hurtful but is currently onto his fourth album release.

Danny Saucedo feat. Malcolm B
Brinner i bröstet

For this September edition, Sweden is slowing down the tempo from previous months, sending the Mid-tempo R&B/Ballad Brinner i bröstet (Burning in the Chest) performed by Danny Saucedo featuring rapper Malcolm B. The song, which first premiered back in April, is the first original single by Danny sung in the Swedish language.

The now 29-year Daniel Danny Saucedo Grzechowski first burst to fame in Sweden by his participation in the third season of Swedish Idol back in 2006 where he finished as overall sixth. Danny would release his debut solo album the following year including official number one singles Tokyo and Play it for the Girls aswell the top. 3 hit If Only You featuring singer Therese Granqvist. The album itself would also peak at number one on the official Swedish albums chart. Parallel to Saucedo's own solo career he would also join forces with former Swedish Idol contestants Erik Segerstedt and Mattias Andréasson forming the boyband trio E.M.D. that also would enjoy charts success, the trio for instance topped the official Swedish Singles chart with the single Jennie Let Me Love You back in 2008, as of 2010 the trio has been split.

Danny has also entered the Swedish selection Melodifestivalen for Eurovision Song Contest at three occasions finishing third as part of E.M.D. with the entry Baby Goodbye back in 2009 aswell as ending at the follow-up position twice as a solo act; in 2011 with In the Club followed by the entry Amazing in the final of 2012. In 2013 he was back at the contest as a co-host for the show. Danny Saucedo has released three solo albums in English to date.

Also featuring on the entry is rapper Malcolm Brandin who finished overall fifth back in 2012 in the first and so far only season of X-Factor Sweden.

Zara Larsson

For this October edition, Sweden is sending one of the biggest hits in Sweden of the summer season 2015; Zara Larsson's Lush Life, the first single taken from the singer's upcoming follow-up album. The R&B-Pop track, with its slight island vibe, is a catchy song with an uplifting summery-feeling to it and cheeky catchy lyrics.

17-year old Zara Larsson is a rising star in Sweden's pop industry. Having won Sweden got Talent back in 2008 being only 10-years old, Larsson signed her first record deal as a 12-year old back in 2010. Larsson got her breakthrough with the debut-single Uncover back in 2013 topping the official Swedish Singles Chart. In 2014 she would got her second top. 3 hit with Carry You Home aswell as topping the Swedish Albums Chart with her debut album titled 1. Larsson is currently back at number 1 in Sweden with the new single Never Forget You featuring British Singer/Producer/Songwriter MNEK

Norlie & KKV

For this edition, Sweden is sending one of the biggest local hits of Sweden 2015; Norlie & KKV's Ingen annan rör mig som du (Nobody Else Touches Me Like You). The catchy uptempo Pop-HipHop song peaked in the top. 3 on the official Swedish Singles Chart back in April 2015 and is the duo's most successful single to date.

The duo Norlie & KKV, consisting of 25-year olds Sonny "Norlie" Fahlber and Kim "KKV" Vadenhag, was formed back in 2008 and got their proper breakthrough with the single När jag går ner (When I Go Down) in 2011, which also served as the lead-single of the duo's debut album Snart (Soon) (released in 2013). Typical themes of the duo's song-lyrics tend to be about sex and relationships, which is also the case of this entry (see lyrics below).

This is the second time Norlie & KKV enters the FSC for Sweden; the duo ended up at #31 with the entry Tröjan du hatar (The Sweater You Hate) at the 40th edition of FSC back in June 2012. Will they have more luck this time around?
