I can understand the comparisons to Micheal Rice last year having finally listened to the track; much like 'Its Bigger than Us' its a fine track for what it is, its inoffensive, its not a slog to listen to and Leeb sings it very well and I imagine (or at least hope) that on the night he'll really give it his all. But even with that said the song itself is just fine. It feels like an X Factor winner's single from the early 2010's, sung well but its ultimately unremarkable and will fade from mind almost as soon as the next song on the night rolls in.
Goodness help him if this song gets sandwiched between two more exiting and eye catching songs like what happened to Rice last year because if it is then almost regardless of how well he sings it its going to sink.
And at this point, going off his writing for Eurovision at least, can we all agree that Lundvik is kind of a crummy writer? This, 'Bigger than Us' and 'Too Late for Love?' singing and staging not withstanding are all just really bland and generic pop songs that just feel like the pop music equivalent of paint by numbers!
