He still sounds strained on that big note towards the end. I hope they get rid of it completely in the revamped version.

Bilal does nothing for me. Has been years since I loved a French entry in the ESC which I find sad since I enjoy French music.

Chimène Badi is without doubt my favourite artist of the ones that took part in this year's French ESC-selections.
Her song was alright, but a pity she was not singing her gorgeous 'Le Jour D’après' which imo should have slayed at the ESC.

Whether it would have slayed is quite another matter. Imo the equally gorgeous 'Je n'ai que mon âme' by Natasha St-Pier
for France in 2001 should have slayed as well and won the whole thing, but it was - as I see it - robbed that year and came 4th.

Perhaps next year's French entry will be more to my liking.. time will tell.

i am so glad to see bilal unbothered and confident in his vidbir performance. just taking it out of the NF context already sees him winning people over (i love how so many people are saving face by going "wow he has improved so much i am liking this now!!" on youtube when... it's just a lower pitch lol. he wasn't out of tune in DE you just didn't like the sound of his voice in that pitch. people confuse basically everything with bad vocals in this fanbase). the hand crown remains iconic and memorable. yes, i still feel like he is doing well in israel.
I showed his vidbir performance to my french friends who are stanning hardcore for him (and annoy the f*ck out of me) and the biggest fan of them was shocked and admitted that vocally it was a disaster.

see? people just mix their opinions (valid but subjective) with an objective assessment. go to that performance on youtube and alllllll the comments are WOW SO MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE. it's not better or worse, it just has a different sound lol. i personally have always thought he delivers the song well and with feeling, and that the song sounds fine either way, but that's subjective and there is nothing wrong with being subjective.

I found his performance at Vidbir a bit lackluster and I listen to Germany much more at the moment. Down to my number 2, I guess :\ xcry

Except that I am subjective-objective and I tell you: Everyone with a bit of sense and accoustic understanding can tell you that vocally that wasn't something to be proud of. :p

He was sick on Vidbir, but still, I found there was a little improvement vocally. There's still room for improvement obviously but he's on the good way.

Yup, Bilal said so weeks ago in a Wiwibloggs interview. So are Lithuania. Not sure about any of the others. (since Spain, Albania, Czech and Montenegro already released theirs)

Don't you worry, he said he will wear a different wig for the contest. He will "evolve like a pokemon" Those were his words.

 good! i´m happy for that.

although i like seeing him with no wig at all, like he appears in the video

Unfortunately not liking this at all , I don't even know what to say about it, it doesn't leave any impression on me good or bad which is not a good sign... if France unfairly flopped with the juries last year with an actual good song, I don't really see how they would do much better this year, also this year I doubt the public will be into it.
