This year's representative can be an immigrant if you check France's Eurovision representative pattern from 2010-2013

:2::0::1::0: Jessy Matador-Immigrant
:2::0::1::1: Amaury Vassili-Native French
:2::0::1::2: Anggun-Immigrant
:2::0::1::3: Amandine Bourgeois-Native French

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA he olvidado :lol:. I think it was his international single.

Me neither... That means we were fated to meet ! ;) xrose

BTW, listened to that on TV as well last night. Good idea for ESC ! :)

Plasticines are still a good value, though yet to be known in a higher level. This song is really great ! :eek:

Eww :lol: After the Antilles and Indonesia, which part of the world should we send then? xrofl

It reminds me of how France was presented during the introduction video of the 1st semi-final this year : some view of the Eiffel tower (always), and then three black young guys walking outdoors with social housing projects behind them :lol: Thanks for the postcard!

Skin color doesn't say anything : we don't have to stop sending immigrants but we don't have to send them either just because they are. Voice, talent, charisma and an appropriate song is all that counts, whether it comes from a Native French or not.

Wasn't Jessy from Congo? not The Antilles. And the postcard was from the final, not the semifinal. And i agree that skin color doesn't say anything, the important thing is sending a quality singer with a quality song that performed with quality performance

Yes. Jessy is from Democratic Republic of Congo. :) He has been however known with a song called "Décalé Gwada", on a Caribbean rhythm (Gwada is Guadeloupe)...
Though, Caribbean music is often on trend in summer and this summer charts are dominated by the project "Tropical family" with... again covers of caribbean songs, or French songs with Caribbean arrangements...
First single is often played. It's a cover of very famous sog "Maldon" by Martinque-rooted Lynnsha and LouisyJoseph, and Guyanese Fanny J.
This cover of Obsesion has charted very well among youngsters and is often played on youngsters radio. My pupils didn't know the original great version of Aventura. This one is rather crappy with very crappy French lyrics...
But on this album there are young unknown talented artists like this Axel Tony singing this good old summer hit with Mauritius rooted Layanah ! :)
BTW Jessy Matador features also the album with contreversial Angela (and its X-rated lyrics ! :eek:)

BTW dealing with beloved here pop, Zaho has released a surprising great hit :)

Eventually, what do you all think about that, this man seen in The Voice, season 2, is surprisingly actual #1 of albums ! Well, it's definitely not my cup of tea but ethnic was asked here :) And surprisingly, he's almost my neighbour :lol:

Many pages ago conwel97 proposed Margaux Avril with her debut single.
She's a very promising girl, and she really has her first outstanding song with this 3rd one. :) She would be a nice choice ! :)

Oh my gosh Toinou, I think you've done it again!!! I'm mesmerised by that song and have just taken a chance on his album. I think i'm quickly falling in love with Luc's music. I've been listening to a lot of folk music recently. Luc is like a french, male Loreena Mckennitt.

I can't believe he was on The Voice!?:eek: Further more I can't believe I just bought the album of someone associated with a talent showxshhh But what the heck, I don't care what he's done. I really like him. Thank you Toinou. You're the best! Thats two artists now you've given me, Lou Doillon being the other one. Plus there's more I must remember to look at properly that you shared with me before.

I actually think Luc would be fantastic at Eurovision. With the right song I believe he could win as beautiful, epic music like his goes down very well at the contest. He'd have the shock value as well.. and I actually think he would be up for it, seeing as he did.. The Voicexwhat

:cool:

I don't watch The Voice but I think that for the 2nd season they looked for people with surprising voices and already professional artists, and not just young people with attitude, as did la Nouvelle Star (Idols) before. So I think he has been contacted by TF1, as he had already a professional career before but wasn't known by wide people (like I didn't know him though he lives very close to where I live ! :lol:) But he has gained a lot, as he's now #1 in Album charts ! He holds a gig tonight near where I live ! :D

BTW, This afternoon, while entering a shop, I heard "In my dreams In my dreams In my heart In my mind I see you and I" !!!! :eek: There are still players with Echo (You and I) !!! But I got the Anggun power for all day !!! :cool::lol:

I really hate talent shows.. but I figured he had a career before it as he has 5 albums. He's something I wouldn't expect to see on one of those kind of shows in a million years. I can't believe he actually did it. I don't think anyone like him would consider a show like The Voice in my country. Your country continues to pleasantly surprise me. I'd like to see France pick him next year. Whether people like him or not, I could see him doing very well in the contest. Cezar got a great result with a eurotrashy song. Something beautiful and unique with such a striking voice could winxheat

My friend who doesn't like Eurovision at all really liked Anggun's song, mainly for how hilarious it was. I pointed out to him that it sounded like the music from a game called Bomberman and we laughed about it all through 2012:lol:

I really hate talent shows..

Moi aussi ! :lol:
But The Voice attracts other people. There has been already 2 former Eurovision contestants, :mc: Lise Darly and :be: Nuno Resende. And there has been a #1 in charts, Kareen Antonn who made that duo with Bonnie Tyler. Also forgotten Sonia Lacen... There has also been the son of famous singer Hélène Ségara, the daughter of former minister Bernard Tapie, Israelian singer Esther Galil who has been rejected with her song one of the jurors covered...

But The Voice is the most watched programm in France with around 7-9 million persons ! While Eurovision was around 2,5 millions(but with better publicy on radios and so on...) So The Voice is very attractive for any artist who wants advertisement, and it's seen in France as a classy program (though I find it boring as hell ! :eek: At least I preferred Star Academy, they all sung so badly and made so terrible numbers that it was extremely funny xrofl3
Like that aweful dancing moment ! :lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm4CzdcrZok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAr6m2bKdHg
Or this OMG think she won the whole show while she has as much personnality as a lettuce and a very annoying voice (and peculiar English skills) ! xrofl3

MICKY GREEN IS BACK !!!! xpartyxpartyxpartyxpartyxfruits:
Well I'm not so found of her last single though it's quite good, but it's a shame such a huge act is only known in :fr: ! :eek:
She is a :au: model based in Paris.
She released her first album "White T-Shirt" in 2007 and made a blasting debut with her song "Oh!" which is still a huge hit everyone knows, and which I discovered was only known in :fr: though it sounds like a worldwide hit ! :eek: And she then became a huge act on the French stage ! :)

Unfortunately, her 2nd album in 2010 which she made with a different management had zero promotion and poor sales despite having a great front single "T.L."... And her 3rd album may have a similar destiny. :( She's be great for Eurovision ! :D Trivia, in the video, the "true love" is model-actor Fu'ad Aït Aattou :)

It's a crime such an awesome artist can't be better known outside :fr: !!!! :eek: xlove

OT: Can I please ask for some French opinions and style taste? :D
The habit of spelling song titles with leading uppercase annoys me a bit. In Swedish it looks really strange and is wrong in every sense. Is it the same in French?

For example in Swedish:
Laleh - Vårens Första Dag (ugly and wrong! :() => Laleh - Vårens första dag (that's better :))

The French example I'm thinking of is:
Alcest - Les voyages de l'âme with the songlist in Wikipedia. What about the leading uppercase titles? OK or not OK?

The rules are a bit complicated regarding uppercase titles (at least for novels, not sure they apply for movies/albums). I think the correct spelling would be "Les Voyages de l'âme". The logic being that "the most important word, usually the first noun, must be capitalised". It's really weird and doesn't work everywhere, but it does prevent a title from only having the article (here, "Les") capitalised.

It's certainly NOT as in English where everything is usually capitalised.
